My partner and I were passing through Dong Hoi for the night and were looking for some place to eat. We decided on this place due to the high ratings, however, I am not sure how this place has such high ratings as my partner and I had a different experience- speaking mainly about the food. My partner and I came by for a late lunch, a little after they had opened. When we arrived, before entering, we noticed it was dark and the staff were casually sitting at one table. We thought it was closed, but when we asked, they quickly scattered off to their positions and started to get things ready. The young lady who greeted us was super friendly and welcoming, and the rest of the staff didn't really engage, but they were friendly as well. This is why we are giving the service a 5/5.

We ordered: stir fried morning glory with garlic, the shakes beef and steamed rice. The young lady told us because of the season, they didn't have morning glory, so she asked if it would be alright they made it with spinach. Turns out that it wasn't spinach and Shanghai bak choi- which we were perfectly OK with as we love bak choi. Although the vegetables were cooked right, there was nothing special about the dish. The steamed rice was cooked nicely, not mushy or wet and topped off with friend shallots which made it tasty. The biggest disappointment was the shaked beef- the flavour did not stand out, in fact it had an odd flavour to it. Veggies in the dish were cooked nicely. But the worst part is the beef- it was so chewy, it felt like I was chewing bubble gum. It was really hard to get through, near the end, we left a couple of pieces because it was not worth the energy to bite through it.

The ambiance of the place was alright. It was quite dusty and dirty along the windows, and since there's open spaces, lots of flies and other insects up in your...

A Must-Visit for Beer Connoisseurs: A True Jewel in Dong Hoi!

We stumbled upon this pub by chance and discovered what is, without a doubt, a true hidden gem in Dong Hoi. Normally, one would write about the food in a restaurant review. I won't do that, even though the food was genuinely excellent—the fish and meat dishes were incredibly fresh, perfectly prepared, and served with obvious care. My real reason for writing this is the craft beer, which is brewed right on-site. I've been to many craft pubs across Vietnam, but the quality here surpasses everything else we've tried by a wide margin. We had the pleasure of tasting the Amber, the Passion, and the Stout. All three were simply phenomenal. These aren't just hobby brews; they are professionally crafted, wonderfully nuanced, and each has a strong, unique character. You can sense the passion from the owner, who clearly understands his craft and can speak about the brewing process with infectious enthusiasm. Coming from Germany, having traveled extensively through the Czech Republic and all over Europe, we like to think we have a decent barometer for good beer. This pub doesn't just meet that standard—it excels. Our only regret is that we are just passing through, because we seem to have already found our perfect local spot (our Stammlokal) in this city. This is an unconditional 5-star recommendation for anyone who appreciates true craftsmanship and...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Khỏi Bistro, and I must say it was an incredible experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile from the owner, who exuded a genuine friendliness that instantly made me feel at home.

The food at Khỏi Bistro is nothing short of amazing. Every dish I tried was bursting with flavors that danced on my taste buds. The attention to detail in the presentation of each plate was truly impressive, showcasing the chef's passion and creativity. Whether you're a fan of traditional Vietnamese cuisine or looking to explore new flavors, Khỏi Bistro has something for everyone.

But what truly sets Khỏi Bistro apart is their selection of craft beer and rice wines. As a connoisseur of both, I can confidently say that Khỏi Bistro offers the best in town. The variety of craft beers available is impressive, with options to suit every palate. The rice wines, on the other hand, are a true delight, offering a unique and exquisite taste that is hard to find elsewhere.

I am already looking forward to my next visit to Khỏi Bistro. The combination of the owner's warm hospitality, the incredible food, and the exceptional craft beer and rice wines make it a place I will undoubtedly return to. Whether you're a local or just passing through, I highly recommend stopping by Khỏi Bistro for an unforgettable...

Tess, she sister, dad and myself all ate together at Khói because we were on the lookout for good food, and craft beer! And what a great spot! We had the passionfruit beef wraps, and the lemon grass pork wraps! I LOVE fresh herbs and delicious meats rolled in rice-paper rolls! This place was absolutely delicious too! We had the morning glory veg too, with what seems like roast garlic, such a beautiful gentle garlic flavour. The highlight was unusual, the dried fish dish with the craft beer...absolutely amazing, would definitely recommend it if you like fish, very unique! We had a great selection of beer too! Stout, IPA, passionfruit, Red Ale and pilsner!! We love craft beer....and all of these were really good. Don't be fooled by the abv, these are WAY stronger than the local beer served everywhere else too! You've been warned!! 😂 🤣 😂 The guy who served us was so friendly (the owner we think?), and his english was excellent, and his recommendations were spot on. The perfect level of good service without feeling like they were hovering. Great stuff. Another delicious meal in Vietnam! 🇻🇳 Thank you!
