Our host provided us with an option of either vegetarian or meat, then provided us with a substantial meal after a long day’s motorcycle ride from Hanoi.
It was refreshing not to have to look at a menu and choose, just be provided with hearty, local food. This may not suit those with strict dietary requirements although they did offer us alternatives.
The coffee (with cream) was amazing, too.
Offered advice on our journey route and helped us with breakfast the next morning as our hotel was not providing, really really grateful.

We visited here whilst on our ha Giang loop visit at Ba be. We had the set meal for 2 which included 2 meat dishes which were pork wrapped in leaves and buffalo meat. And 2 vegetable dishes deep fried pumpkin,mixed greens and rice (last 2 not in the photo) it was all amazing even my husband who is a fussy eater with new foods loved all the dishes! We stayed at Ba Be Legend Hotel which is owned by the same family , and had a delicious homecooked vegetarian (vegan) dinner here. It was very good and while a bit more expensive than in other Vietnamese restaurants the quality was also better everything...
