We were looking forward to eating here, based on most of the reviews ... Very disappointing 😕. It was a Friday, approximately 18h30. The restaurant was empty (lights off, fans and a/c switched off) - that should have been the first clue. It claims to be vegetarian friendly however we were informed about 10 minutes after ordering that they were 'out of' all tofu dishes - tofu is thee main 'meat/fish' substitute isn't it?! We had to remind them halfway through our meal that they forgot the watermelon juice. The server returns minutes later only to tell us there was none left. So we ordered something else. We ordered simple dishes (noodles wt vegetables, fried vegetables, and steamed rice) that cost 2 to 3 times more than what we'd pay at a street food diner. The fried veggies were tasteless and (without a doubt) from frozen, not fresh. The noodles wt veggies were just okay. Read moreSrirembau Restaurant in Halong City is a certified HALAL restaurant. Halal simply means what is lawful and permissible in the Islamic law. In this case, food and drinks to consume. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the building and there is an elevator to go up with. The restaurant is spacious and clean. The table arrangement are scattered and not crowded. Food is served as soon as we sat at the table. The lunch menu is a mixed combination of differing taste: sweet, sour, spicy, and tasteless as well, in the fresh spring roll. The restaurant has a nice and clean restroom and a musolla or prayer area is provided. We decided to have our prayers there as we had a long way back to Hanoi. I had coffee after lunch, but too bad, the coffee was too sweet. Overall, we had a relaxed and fulfilling lunch at Srirembau Restaurant in...
Read moreI visited during the day about 1pm. Food was top notch with many different variations of Asian food. Service was a little difficult with the language barrier but otherwise nonexistent after the order and receiving the food. For instance, if you wanted beer or additional item it was a ghost town. Menu was priced in US dollars so you if you have local currency ( and why wouldn't you) you will get clipped some on the conversion and they don't take credit cards. Furthermore, they did not have change as I wanted small bills for taxi. I was lucky enough to have exact change. Did I mention VAT was added to the bill. Great meal and choices but clouded with some unusual circumstances given a nice restaurant on the 3rd...
