I cannot say enough good things about my stay here. Originally I only booked three nights—but in my first day stay loved it so much that I added two additional nights. Thuy and her family greeted me with the most warm and kind welcome, always making sure I am comfortable during my entire stay and even bringing snacks and drinks to my room in the evening just out of kindness. They made me feel like part of the family, inviting me to dinner and even inviting me to help with preparing some vegetable and play games with their two sons. This was especially meaningful to me as a solo female traveler and at this point traveling away from home for over 6 weeks…I was beginning to feel homesick, but then I come here and I feel at home. Delicious foods from their restaurant. They even brought my motorbike inside at night to keep it safe and would have it nicely parked for me ready for me in the following morning. Plenty of hot water for my showers and Thuy even did my laundry for me. The bed was firm as a typical mattress here in Vietnam, but more comfortable than most. Thuy, her husband and older son all spoke good English which was lucky for me so that I could talk with them and get to know them which was such a joy. And with Thuy’s brother who didn’t speak English, we had great conversation and laughs together with the use of Google Translate app. AND—the view from the room is absolutely breathtaking. Wow. I am a professional photographer and couldn’t help but taking many photos from the view of my room and this entire remarkable place. Waking up to this view and in the warmth of the thoughtfulness and care of this family really felt like a dream that brought me tears of disbelief and happiness to my eyes. I loved the location being outside of the more touristy town of Sapa, quiet and secluded. With my motorbike only took about 10-15 minutes driving to get to town. An easy drive. This stay is not a luxury place in the typical meaning of being very fancy…but rather, is the most incredible luxury in a sense of thoughtfulness + warmth + love + care that is much more meaningful and rare to find. I will always recommend this stay to anyone visiting in Sapa. Thank you to Thuy and her family, I will carry you in...
Read moreWhen I think back at my time in Vietnam, Sapa Dao always comes first. I spent weeks looking for the perfect homestay. I wanted an authentic experience and wow I’m so glad I chose Sapa Dao.
Dao goes above and beyond for his guests. He arranged everything for us and went above and beyond in accommodating us. We also decided to cook dinner with his family and we are so glad we did. I learned about Dao and his upbringing and let me say, he truly is such a hardworking man. He is working daily to give his family a better life, in a way it reminded me of my own father and the struggles he went through for a better life.
His children are so amazing and you can see they are the way they are thanks to their dad. They were always taking care of us even when did they didn’t have to. We loved the kids so much and played some card games with the boys. They were so amazing and truly wonderful kids.
On the last day when leaving Dao’s wife came back and said goodbye to us. As we were leaving she gave us a bag with snacks and water for our bus ride. Maybe a small touch but it felt so meaningful to me, it truly felt like an authentic homestay.
Sure, maybe it’s not a five star resort but if you’re looking for a wholesome stay with the sweetest family ever that will go above and beyond for you then this is the place for you. Btw the views and the food are amazing! I highly recommend.
Dao, thank you to you and your family for such a wonderful stay. You made our time in Vietnam so special. We hope to...
Read moreWe stayed here for one night while passing through.||The room we got had a great view, was clean and the bed was comfy. Staff were very friendly and food was ok. There is plenty of parking out front. ||The only issues we had were trying to order lunch - admittedly we were trying to order at a busy time of the day but it took a good 20/30 minutes just to put the order through - weren’t in a hurry to eat but would have been nice if staff had told my partner to sit at the table and someone would be over, instead he stood by the kitchen waiting while staff repeatedly walked by saying ‘one moment please’. Just think this could have been handled a little better.||Also, unfortunately the flooring put down has no noise cancelling which meant the person staying above us that was walking around in their clogs all night kept us up. If you get someone normal who sleeps during the night then you should be fine.||The stay was fine for one night as it’s relatively close to Sapa town, just a short drive away if you want to venture in to get dinner but also much quieter than the town itself. You would need a bike/taxi to get...
