If you are heading to Mỹ Tho and the Mekong River, chances are you will find yourself here the Mekong Rest Stop, a massive open-air oasis built to feed the endless stream of travelers passing through. But this isn’t just some roadside pit stop, this place hums with energy, movement, and the quiet efficiency of an open kitchen feeding the hungry masses.

There are countless seats, scattered across a lush garden setting, where you can linger after your meal and watch the kitchen crew work at breakneck speed. The food? Surprisingly good for a rest stop. We had hủ tiếu Mỹ Tho, and it was legit—the kind of bowl that reminds you why this region is famous for its noodles. Fresh, chewy, with that slightly fermented sour tang that makes each bite pop. Authentic, no shortcuts.

This is where you eat like the locals do, without the Instagram filters, without the pretense, just real food, served to real travelers on their way to the Mekong. If you are stopping here, take a moment to appreciate the organized chaos of the kitchen, the scent of simmering broth, and the sheer scale of it all. This is Vietnam...

Complete tourist trap. Awful low quality food, microwaved before giving it to you. Your tour company is scamming you.

Tour guides receive a free, much better meal when they bring groups here (confirmed by my tour guide) - you'll notice your tour guide does not eat with you and all the positive reviews are from tour companies and "local guides".

Fried spring rolls came cold. Soup and fried rice was super bland, probably made with frozen veggies. Mushrooms were very old. Got charged 220k for the lot.

Don't eat here, ask to go to a different place if your tour guide brings you here. Only redeeming feature is the greenery and decorations which are clearly only there to lure in tourists.

Would give 0/5...

This place exists purely to separate tourists from their money! It's absolutely rammed with tourists, all brought by their respective guides, presumably due to a deal having been brokered somewhere!

It is also vastly overpriced, but if I ran the place and (presumably) had deals with guiding companies to bring me wealthy victims, sorry, customers, I'd ramp up my prices too!

It does provide (clean) toilets but the limited cafe facilities are not able to cope with the vast numbers of conveyor-belt tourists. And, yes, I do recognise that I am part of the problem!

I'd give this place a miss if you're able, but your guide will probably take you here if...

Stopped here during my trip to the Mekong Delta and had a great experience! I ordered shrimp noodles, vegetable fried rice, a full fried fish, and french fries everything was fresh flavorful and well-prepared. They also have plenty of good vegetarian options, which is a plus for travelers with dietary preferences. One highlight is their large souvenir store I ended up buying 5 T‑shirts and some other local goodies. It’s a great place to pick up gifts and keepsakes while enjoying authentic Vietnamese food in a clean and relaxing environment. A must visit stop if you’re traveling around the Mekong Delta perfect for both a meal break and some shopping.
