Mine is a complaint about the lousy customer service.
I have ordered cakes from Pemcol on 2 separate occasions and on both occasions the service has just been infuriating.
On the first occasion, about 6 months ago, I got to their Ballantyne shop abut 10mins before the time we had agreed that the cake would be ready. I was told to wait for 30mins as they were running late on my order. I obviously wasn't happy about this as I had a house full of guests waiting for that cake. The long and short of it is after a lot of empty promises on my cake being ready from them, I left their shop 2 hours later a very unhappy customer.
On the second occasion, I went to their Ballantyne shop on 1/7/22 to collect an order for a marble cake that I had placed 2 days prior. When I got there, there simply was no marble cake available. They did acknowledge that they knew about my order. They offered, instead, a vanilla cake. I was obviously not happy about being 'forced' to take something that I had not ordered but my choices were limited as I already had an event planned for the same day. To add salt to injury, the cake was very dry and stale and my guests only consumed less than half of it. So basically, Pemcol forgot to bake my cake and simply gave me something that had been sitting on their shelf for God knows how many days. $40 later (I got a $5 discount after I demanded a discount for being forced to take something I had not ordered), a cake that was supposed to be the highlight of my one year old daughter's birthday party went straight to the bin.
VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING INDEED!!!! EXTREMELY POOR...
Read moreI was recommended this place by a family member. First impressions were good as I arrived the store was quiet and being cleaned by staff, the confectionery looked very appealing and the staff were very friendly. I ordered some 3 steak pies, 1 chicken pie, a cinnamon roll, a long cream doughnut and a small strawberry donught. The damage was a bout $22. For bakes goods it's definitely on the upper end of the price range. However I must say everything was delicious. The steak pies where full of meat and gravy with a very buttery and light pastry. And the rest of the items tasted fresh and absolutely delicious. I...
Read moreDespite the fuel crisis we drove halfway across town on Friday for a pie from Pemcol who were up till now simply the best bakery in Harare. We were so so disappointed with their chicken pies. The Pastry is still good but their filling that used to be absolutely delicious is now a gelatinous lump of yellow salty goo and tastes like some kind of thickened stock with chunks of boiled chicken thrown into it. What a let down especially since they managed to maintained their standard for so many years. Will never eat a chicken pie at Pemcol again. Steak pies and sausage rolls are still really...
