Horses are adequately trained and the trail is great. Some staff were a bit rude and not communicative. There are several things a new rider should know even on well trained horses that knows the route. The only thing they reviewed with our group was turning and stopping a horse, and it was a quick mention before we headed to the trail. The return trip is a bit rough with the decline, so it can be important to use the stirrups to lean back when going down big hills, to help with soreness in the back and hips, among other reasons. They did not review this or any other important guidelines for horses before heading out. Also, if you need to use a step to dismount the horse, this may be tricky at the end of the trip because the horses know they are done and get to eat, and become a bit grouchy and impatient. I need to dismount with a step given a hip injury. The horse was very uncooperative for this, and even though I am an experienced rider, I needed help handling the horse and navigating him to the step. The staff person assisting me yelled at me during this process, which ended our trip on a bad note. I would return if it’s the only option in the area, but I will be looking for other places to ride in the future, especially if I am bringing people who have never ridden. Also, you can pay with a card but there is $4 fee they did not mention before running any cards for our party. Again, communication from staff was very disappointing.

Very night trail ride. Stable looks a little worn out and cluttered. All though horses looking good, fed and round, food and water in place. Horses are pretty clean (not spotless), hoofs are in a good shape. This ride is good for all levels, but I feel it could be a little bit intimidating on a way down for someone who never sat on a horse before. Me and my friend are experienced riders and we had plenty of fun. Very beautiful trail to the top of Senica. On the top we had 15 minutes to walk around and explore. Horses were good to follow each other, but not good to steer independently (which I only tried at the end to take a picture with my friend). I think it’s very fun way to get to the top if you already hiked or you just want something different. Very relaxing ride and pinto horses just lovely! I rode horse Spook - he is very handsome boy, if you see him tell him I said Hi!

Truly had an amazing experience with Yokums! Everything from the staff to the horses to the views. Everything was just amazing. The horse are so beautiful, gentle and well taken care of. The owners Bub and Chris were so friendly and it was so nice to meet them. There was a 9 y/o little cowboy on the ride with us and his horse “Easy” was so gentle and literally “easy”. I had Spocket, he was as sweet as a peach with the most gorgeous blue eyes. All of the horses were so well behaved and calm. We enjoyed our ride and have so many good memories. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend!

My group was in WV for a wedding and I insisted that if we were coming all this way that we HAD to go riding in the mountains. They of course obliged and I swear I must have looked at every stable in WV with a website before picking this one. I'm so glad I did. We had a great time. It was very relaxed compared to some rigid trail rides I've been on. Our party ranged in experience from one who had never ridden before to ex-rodeo. Staff made us all feel comfortable. We left with sore tails but big smiles. I would absolutely come back.

June 2023, I took my dad, daughter, and son on this ride. We all had an absolute blast. It was my kids first time on a horse and my dad and I hadn't been on one in 30 yrs or more. Horses know what to do without your input, which is a plus. My horse was "Hank," whom had one gear and it's in 4Lo. Loved it, matched my wishes perfectly. No hurry to get there or for it to end! Wish we could buy gear/merch online.

Guides were polite and personable. They did not discriminate against us because we chose to wear our mace masks to protect against potential COVID-19 exposure. We rode horses to the top of Seneca Rocks, and although there was drizzling rain we had a very enjoyable and safe time. This experience was polar opposite compared to a terrible experience at Equestrian Adventures in Fayetteville, WV.
