We really enjoyed hells gate state park. The roads to the park and inside the park are completely paved, so its very easy to drive. The layout of the loops was also easy to drive and access your spot, we pull a 35 ft fifthwheel and didn't have any trouble maneuvering it. The sites themselves have lots of room to spread out so it did not feel cramped. This is a popular park so if you want peace and quiet know what time of year it is and go during the quieter seasons. This is an excellent family park with a nice paved biking/walking trail so my 2 yo and 4 yo had an easy time biking as well as playing on the little swim beach. The park itself was very clean when we visited, the bathrooms were clean as well as the showers. It seemed like most campers did a good job cleaning up as well. Only complaint? Don't show up early. The staff was very rude at check in, and even if your site is empty won't let you check in early. So despite kiddos needing naps, temps being in the hundreds, and having traveled hours, you'll have to entertain yourself with no hope of cooling down your trailer until precisely 2pm.

One of the best State parks we have camped in. On the Snake River but most camp sites only have a peek of the river. Well spaced well shaded camp sites, many pull through. Only 9 sites have sewer hookups. I stayed 4 days so to be safe I emptied my wastewater into a tote. The RV dump station is over a mile from the campground. That is a long way to drag a tote. Campground is well priced and when we changed our plans they refunded us the unused days. Clean large bathrooms. Their only problems are the sinks only have cold water and the showers are timed for less than a minute. You need to push the button over and over again to get a full shower. You cannot adjust the temperature of the showers but I thought it was a good temperature. There is a lot of activities in the area. We were interested in the boat tour of Hell's Canyon but the short tour was $138 / person so we passed on that. We will visit again next year.

How can you call yourself alive if you haven't seen this? Truly, Hells Gate State Park brings you one of the most pristine, untouched, contiguous nature preserves in all of the US. You can find many boating companies that will take you up the river. I recommend taking the half-day jet boat tour up the Snake River to the Garden Creek Ranch or to the mouth of the River of No Return. You can spend the night at Garden Creek for a really exotic experience. You can also camp here at the Marina. The whole region is absolutely breathtaking. When visiting America's deepest canyon - Remember, you have to let yourself go and immerse yourself into the wild. Experience it like you wouldn't experience your self!

Stayed in Site# 32, which has power and H2O. Other sites have full hookup and were only $2 more...but they go fast. Fees total was only $78 for 2 nights...I'm from Washington so there was a few extra bucks for out of state...but still cheap. Really clean campground with plenty of space. Quite a bit of trees for shade. Free museum onsite with gift shop. Entrance to campground has person posted during the day. Folks on golfcart roaming and cleaning. RV dump on the way out is free. Tons of trails...bring your bike or good walking shoes. Good sized beach on the Snake River. Did not see swimming area but it is a river, so be careful. Will def. go back.

Such a nice, peaceful State Park. The day use beach is so nice. It's a safe stretch of beach. In the campground there are huge trees for shade. So camping in the 100° temperature is actually bearable without electricity - tent camping at its finest. There are large green grassy areas to run and play games. The roads are perfect for riding bikes. There is also a paved bike/walking path throughout the park. There are also trails that you can go on. There were also bunnies, deer, and turkeys wandering thru the camp ground. There is a trail that borders the campground that horses use quite frequently and it's fun to watch them galloping by.

A little gem right in town and on the Snake River! Lots of Deer, few skunks and kitties roam the campgrounds. Very nice swim beach for the dogs and kids with warmer water! Stay in the Aspen Circle if you are going to use the swim beach as it’s a short walk….other loops it’s a very long walk! Nice walking and bike trails throughout the park. Very few sewer sites but all have electricity and Water. The campground host rake and clean each site before the next camper. A nice welcome as you come to your site. Much appreciated! We will be back with our boat! Thank you Idaho for another great stay at your parks!
