A beautiful garden that serves as an educational and art installation venue as well. They offer plant sales and have a gift shop for garden lovers too. Membership for a family of four is only $75 for the year. A fantastic value considering they operate throughout the year. If you have any doubts about the varieties of plants, vegetables and flowers that can thrive in Alaska this is a great place to visit. The showcase gardens that celebrate local species as well. The trails wind through the property and adjoin a longer walk outside in the Campbell area system. Another fun program they offer are picnics in the park during the summer catered by South restaurant. Their website is great and you are able to reserve spots for all of the programs and classes conveniently online. Update May 2024: Don’t miss the annual plant sale on May 11th…need go no further for Mother’s Day gifts. Open at 9am for members and 10am for all other supporters.

We had such a delightful time together, walking on the garden paths and exploring the gardens! So much beauty and color to see everywhere you look! Peonies, those stunning beauties and my personal favorite, are showcasing their blooms, encouraging visits from bees 🐝 happy to oblige! While still other varieties of peonies are just thinking about budding. Many Star Gazers are out, as are the delicate and colorful Columbine. The ever magnificent Chocolate Lilies would not go unnoticed! So much vibrancy and greenery here! This was my first time exploring the gardens at this time of year> mid June. Many flower buds teasing you with their promise of full bloom, and tempting you to return and discover their beauty in within several weeks! Unfortunately, the majority of my picture taking was with another camera, but I hope this offering, will delight you nonetheless.

Beautiful and peaceful. This is a calm and quiet respite from the city. Beautiful spaces, plants, and flowers. The displays and immersion into the environment is wonderful. I highly recommend visiting. We took an afternoon in the middle of our week long visit to Alaska to visit the botanical garden. It was a very nice way to unwind and take in some nature while we were in the city transitioning from one nature area (Denali) to another (Seward/Chugach). Definitely worth the small admission fee. Take time to walk around all the areas, but also find a bench and just relax with a loved one and take in the flowers. Loved it!

The Blue poppies were in bloom and a local artist had her fused glassworks on display featuring the lovely northern poppy and other Alaskan blooms. The herb garden smelled amazing and featured lots of different mint types. The VW bug turned topiary was a favorite for me and the woven bird sculptures were massive! Highly recommend the Alaska Botanical Garden in Anchorage Alaska. If you are in need of a walk in a beautiful space, want to sign your kids up for a kids gardening camp or need a place for a private event, you can find what you are looking for! Happy gardening.

Very nice area to check I would say at least 2 times a month. Flowers and plants keep changing the scenery and surprising with different colors. You can learn a lot and check different herbs and veggies too. There is a very cute section with mini plants/succulents arranged on square concrete. You can also find nice plants for purchase. Visit their website to see what is blooming at the moment and pay them a visit. It is well worth it. 10/2023 - I have also added a few pictures of the garden in the fall as well as their decorations during Halloween.

A delightfully curated and packed area. Family friendly. My toddler really enjoyed all of the different fruit bushes they have around the property! My grandfather went with us. They have a good variety of paved trails and artwork to enhance the area as well. It was rainy when we went and lovely area to walk. It is fenced in to keep the odd moose and bear from wandering through. Strongly recommend for anyone who enjoys plants, gardens, local Alaskan foliage (although not solely Alaskan.)
