We spent three weeks in Himare and spent time here every day. It’s a laid back, family friendly beach with great water for swimming. Never once during our time there did we feel crowded, nor did we feel any sense of insecurity of any kind.

There are two super friendly guys there who rent kayaks (one- and two-person), pedal boats, paddle boards and beach umbrellas. Prices for the rentals are very fair (600L for one hour on a two-person kayak; 1,000L for one hour with a pedal boat).

The restaurant/bar strip is immediately behind the beach, so you have great access to restaurants, coffee shops, bars, markets and clothes/beach kit shops.

We left at the end of June and it was just starting to get busier, but there’s plenty od room and had we stayed longer we would still have been...
