Having been to Shoal Bay East and Rendezvous beaches for stays, we had to try out Meads, so Turtles Nest was our home for 14 days. ||The pros are, the studio unit had everything we needed. The water pressure was okay, but the hot water was fantastic. The best I have ever had in the Caribbean!! Also, the price was good for the Meads area. My favorite thing was having the washer and dryer in the unit. That was huge! ||We also appreciated that Straw Hat personnel would deliver drinks and food right to your lounge chair and a couple of nights that we didn’t want to go out, we met Omar from straw hat at 5:15 outside at the TN pool area, with our take out order. It doesn’t get much easier than that.||The staff were very nice too. Shout out to Fairy and Scooby. ||There were a few cons. The mattress in the room was so worn I could feel the springs hurting me every night. We had the beds separated upon arrival, and the only way to get a mattress pad was to push them together, which was fine. It improved the situation, but note to TN management and owners, please spend the money and buy new mattresses. ||Second con, the pool was freezing. It is in the shade most of the day. I am sure it is fine during the spring and summer months, but not for January. This was a disappointment because if the surf is too strong, or god forbid you get the dreaded seaweed, you want a pool as a backup. If you are not a swimmer, then none of this will matter to you.||And lastly, Turtle Park, where they keep tortoises, is depressing and smelly. I saw no food or water, which made me wonder if these reptiles were being taken care of properly. I wish they would get rid of it and if they can, release them back to their homes. ||I am an older traveler and have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean. I love the water, so I view things and rate my vacations by the beach and my opportunity to swim. This may not apply to you. ||I actually had buyers remorse when I first arrived as the weather was cool and windy. I was wishing I was further south in the Caribbean. the weather improved the second week, but if I only had one week there I would have come home very disappointed and would have needed a do over. ||For me personally, I would not go again in January. If you just like to go away and go to restaurants, then Meads is a fantastic place for you. ||I would like to return, but I think I’ll come in the fall instead of the winter. ||I’d give...
Read moreWe had a booking at this property but lost the reservation due to an health emergency, so review is based on Human interaction, their lack of sensitivity and empathy towards a tragedy, and not on the stay itself. I booked this trip for my girlfriend's birthday. Two weeks before our trip started, her father passed away suddenly, which was devastating for her. She flew to Argentina to burry her dad and came back to Miami, where we live. She didn't have time to mourn the death of her father, when 5 days before our trip began, she received another phone call from her home, saying that her mother became ill and was in a critical condition. She went from loosing her father to the possibility of loosing her mother within a month. We flew back to Argentina knowing that we'd be losing this trip to Anguilla. I decide to reach out to the hotel directly and explain the situation in detail hoping that they could make an exception and not lose this 3 night reservation. I didn't purchase the Trip Protection and I was aware of their Cancellation Policy, I just hoped to see if there was another option, because I really wanted this trip for her after all she went through unexpectedly. I received a very cold email back from Jackie, with one line " Unfortunately your reservation is nonrefundable nor changeable" Like I said on the email Jackie, Such a lovely and warm response. The money lost is irrelevant at this point, but your astonishing lack of sensitivity and empathy towards a...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay at Turtle's Nest. The staff, setting, and amenities were fantastic. Mead's Bay is an amazing, clean, soft white sand beach with lovely sunset views we watched every night from the beach chairs out front. The location on the island is ideal with so many restaurants nearby and easy access to route 1. The website photo for our studio room makes it appear that the water is right outside the window, but that view is only to the walkway to the other building. If you stand in the right place, you can see the beach from the porch. The room size and space is nice enough but the furniture is quite dated. The bed provided little support even with the mattress topper that has been added, the two chairs are very close by, and there is no real other space to sit comfortably. The ceiling fans are loud. The refrigerator makes a popping noise each time the motor kicks on. There is no full length mirror in the room anywhere that we found. The door must be bolted from the inside to be locked properly, this would never fly elsewhere as it is a safety risk in a fire. No, we did not talk to the office staff about these things, because there was nothing that could have been done for a relatively short stay. While the studio rooms pictured on the website appear to have water views out one or another window, we could only see the beach from the patio. Don't sleep on the pancakes at the coffee shop next door...
