Great Hermitage of Tatev — Attraction in Syunik Province

I love this place! It is a hermitage. And a monk (or monks) still live there! If you do not go to Tatev using the ropeway, you can check this place after or before you visit the Devi's bridge. When you get to Devil's bridge, just turn left and go this way till you reach the river. You have to walk for 15 or 20 minutes along the riverbank till you get to the hermitage. The only reason this site gets 4/5 stars is that there is no real information on it anywhere at the site or near the entrance. A bit of information is shared on the Wings of Tatev as it passes overhead. The fact that it is so isolated - mentioned negatively in some reviews - is on the contrary a big plus! It feels like it is all yours. The only way to access is via the (hard) trail from the monastery up the steep hill or a pleasant walk...

Beautiful secluded place we ran into during our hike to Tatev. Unsure what it was or why it's so abandoned. We met some folks that were growing vegetables there that didn't speak English. It has a water spring so we were greatfull we could refill on such a warm day.
