Well, the venue and wines speak for themselves, but the Oliver's Taranga team complete the package to really make this vineyard a destination... Their knowledge, passion for the industry and warm, efficient service is hard to top. My husband and I stumbled across the vineyard by chance in late 2023, and we immediately fell in love with their Shiraz, Fiano and Grenache. In fact, we enjoyed them so much, that we purchased dozens of cases of all three, and used them for our wedding in March this year (2024). We also ordered liters of their delicious fortified Grenache "the Banished", which we bottled and labelled ourselves as wedding gifts to all our guests. We've remained on their quarterly purchase list since, and most recently, I took my work crew to the venue for our office Christmas party. Of course, they did not disappoint! Not only did they introduce me to some new varietals (namely, the very drinkable Falanghina) but they also spoiled us (yet again) with fabulous service, knowledge and wines. I can't speak highly enough of the Oliver's Taranga experience....
Read moreOliver's at Taranga came highly recommended to our group who visited as the last winery of our visit to Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale. It is a must visit for Shiraz lovers. The tasting experience is great value at $10pp including beautiful fresh bread, almonds and home made olive oil (my friends purchased several bottles!). They were kind enough to make a delicious gluten free bread for one of our group so nobody missed out, this was a very welcome touch.
The staff were all very knowledgeable and really friendly giving us our own room for the tasting and generously allowing us to taste the HJ Shiraz which was well worth tasting and purchasing! You are able to enjoy a wine by the glass which was a pleasure and we loved the HJ Shiraz.
We were visited by the friendly Marj who was a huge hit with our group. Everyone walked away with multiple bottles of wine and a huge smile on our faces saying what a wonderful place to end...
Read moreDuring our Australia trip we've now done several wine tastings in different regions (2 in the ACT, 2 in Coonawarra, and 3 on Kangaroo Island) and the tasting we did at Oliver's Taranga was by far the best. Take the time and enjoy yourself there -- it is worth it! We mostly spoke with Mark, whose passion and enthusiasm for the wines was fabulous. But the other staff was just as welcoming and friendly. While we did the reserve wines tasting, which was worth the extra $$, the other seemed like a great option as well. We had a tough time deciding which wine to purchase due to our space restrictions. It was great to see that after generations of male leadership, the current winemaker is female. Kudos to change! It's a dog friendly tasting room and the olive oil and bread offered with the tasting is...
