Smoky Cape Lighthouse — Attraction in Arakoon

A wonderful landmark on the New South Wales coast. This lighthouse is located close to South West Rocks, and has a wonderful view of the coastline and out to the Pacific Ocean.

It is a relatively easy walk from the adjacent carpark to the actual lighthouse. There is a railing that can be used to assist those who are not as mobile as other people.

Views of Fish Rock, Black Rocks and South Smoky Beach can be seen from the lookout points immediately adjacent to the actual lighthouse.

At the time that this reviewer visited Smoky Cape Lighthouse in December 2017, it was possible to take a tour inside the actual lighthouse for a modest fee. Tours had to be pre-booked, were limited to groups of no more than ten people, and were conducted on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1pm.

Bed & Breakfast style accommodation is available at the adjacent Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage.

Smoky Cape Lighthouse located a short drive around from South West Rocks. We had tried to see this lighthouse early that day but it was completely rained/clouded out and we did step out of the car, very glad we came back to try again later that afternoon once the rain settled 💡

There is a cute little Air BnB next to it as well which also looked magical, wouldn’t imagine it would be cheap though 😬

Smokey Cape Lighthouse is a short drive from the main road. Plenty of parking. Accessible parking available. The walk upto the Lighthouse is steep but the views are spectacular. There's walking tracks to the beach. There's an open area with picnic tables and toilets on the upper grassed area above the carpark over looking the beach in the distance it's family friendly. It is accessible by walking up a few stairs or walking closer to the top of the carpark to get on the path.
