Alma Bay is one of Magnetic island islands best places to enjoy nature. Kids enjoy climbing across the rocky shores that bracket the pristine main beach. Year round swimming from the beach is possible. With reefs close into shore it is perfect for scuba diving or even snorkeling. A short swim from the beach will allow free diving to shallow reefs. Colourfull reef fish and stingrays are among the creatures you are likely to see. Unpowered water craft can be used in the designated area. The beach is patrolled by surf life saving Australia between the red and yellow flags placed on the beach. The area has clean, well maintained public toilets, showers to wash off the sea salt and bbq areas with tables and chairs. This makes for a very good spot for group outings. Across the road there is a news agent that stocks a range of goggles and other items you might need on the beach that you may have forgotten, like sunscreen. Other essentials for a day at the beach can also be purchased. Including cold drinks and ice creams. They also sell bags of food so you can feed the Wallabies at Armand Way, Geoffrey Bay. This is only a short walk and is a favourite activity for people of all ages. Meals can be bought at Arcadia village from Bikini tree cafe or the...

Just beautiful. Stunning beach with excellent facilities including toilets and picnic opportunities. Alma Bay rates amongst Australia's most beautiful beaches. With large rocky headlands on both sides and a gorgeous white sandy beach, this place is lovely and well worth the visit. There is a large lawn picnic area immediately above the beach which has stunning shade trees and well kept and modern facilities such as toilets, play equipment and showers. Immediately across the road from the Arcadia Hotel, speciality shops (including ice cream) and bus stops, Alma Bay is accessible, convenient and a completely delightful day at the beach. Whether you want a swim or somewhere beautiful to sit and read, Alma Bay is a strong...

Really pretty beach with lots of shady areas to relax. We went snorkeling here on November 1 2024 near low tide and it was pretty good on both sides of the bay along the rocks, the water was mostly calm and clear. Many different kids of coral and fish and we saw a few blue spotted rays. Some patches of poor visibility due to the sandy bottom. It gets better the farther out you swim along the rocks on the left side, especially if you keep swimming along the shore to the left, around to the next 2 small bays...

Nice beach for a swim. Life guards are present which gives a more secure feeling. No stinger nets such that stinger suits are recommended during stinger season. Some people went without due to the separation from the ocean. However, I wouldn't take the risk. The snorkeling isn't great here, I would recommend going to Arthur or Florence Bay instead. However, if you insist, keep to the left as close to the rocks as possible. We saw some fish, hermit crabs and single corals.

One of the best bays on the island for a sheltered, quiet, relaxed swim. Check out the local bird life, there's a variety of local birds that frequent the area (including curlews unfortunately). There's even a giant eastern osprey nest up in a tree on the right hand end of the beach when looking out at the water. Check out the aquatic life with a snorkel or the dive shop up the road. The diving isn't amazing but its super easy and a great place to get certified
