Came here twice, once just for a drink, then again for a drink and a bite to eat.
First time the two drinks we had were expensive but didn't think much of it as figured it was just island prices (we hadn't been there long to know any different). Its a nice enough place to sit and some birds run around that are quite interesting. Didn't take long to get served either.
The second time the three drinks we got (a schooner each of an ale, a ginger beer, and just a lemon lime and bitters) came to $28.50! This time I took note as the day before we had been to Maggie Island Brewery and the drinks were much cheaper, the same thing essentially coming to about $21 (and that was for fancy craft beers that were 6.2% and a much nicer lemon lime and bitters). Also we had been to Marlin Bar in Horseshoe that had excellent food and drink for far cheaper prices. But, since we were there that night, we thought whatever try some food too...
Got garlic bread ($10) and chicken wings ($15) which were pricey but I thought if they're good I don't mind. First of all it took ages even though it wasn't busy there at all, nearly 20min which for what we ordered I thought was too long. Then when my buzzer finally went and I went to get it I found the bread was tasty enough (but should have been $8 max not 10) but the chicken wings? Mate... There was 4 of them. 4 chicken wings... For $15! And they served it with a pot of mayonnaise I had no idea it came with. Who serves chicken wings with mayonnaise? I was expecting, like I think any normal person would, that I would get 6 chicken wings, every other place I have ever been in my life 6 is the normal number of chicken wings, everyone knows this, if they can't make money on that then up your prices but serve 6 chicken wings man, good grief!
The wings were good, don't get me wrong, but 4 for 15 bucks! That is outrageous, $3.75 per wing! And mayo??? Why not just forget the mayo and drop your prices? Or give a choice of sauce? Yeah, don't eat here man, there's heaps better places on the island. Try Marlin Bar or Stuffed on Seafood for food, and definitely Maggie Island Brewery for drinks, far cheaper and...
Read moreCalled in to the hotel for a late linch. Had the Calamari, which was delicious and a dish I can highly recommend. Beer was cold, service efficient and the surroundings quite pleasant.
Why then may you ask did I give the establishment a one 🌟rating…
The answer is quite simple. My other reason for visiting was to speak with the Manager to see if I could use their pool, for therapeutic purposes, along with a payment offer.
I enquired at the main bar, if I could have a quick word with the boss. After providing the barmaid with an over view, she went off to speak with said manager.
On her return, she informed me that he refused to see me as he was far too busy doing paperwork, and had no time to speak to me. The barmaid suggested that I come back some other day and the manager might be available to see me.
I wont be returning!
If he can’t find the time to put the paperwork aside for 5 minutes to talk to me, when I made the time and effort to drive down to see him, then I sure as hell wont be chasing around after him.
If he considers paperwork to be far more important than dealing with a customer, then he is both a poor manager and a lousy businessman.
So along with a lousy review he has he lost myself and my friends as clients and lost out on an opportunity to increase his revenue flow, from the proposal I had authority to offer.
He needs to learn that paperwork will wait, whereas customers wont.
In summary, I found his actions to be rude and disrespectful.
It is, as always up to you, the reader, of this review to make your own assessment of my comments. But for me I do not accept nor tolerate rudeness or being disrespected. So 🌟 Star is all it gets,...
Read moreHmmm where do I begin I was staying at the adjacent Motel located on the same parcel of land...this ? is for the owner is it ok at 7am every morning to blow leaves from the pubs carpark literally 20mtr from guest rooms?...NOPE IT CERTAINLY IS NOT...considering one would assume guests were on holiday, and may like to sleep past 7am a big FU for that...oh and to make it worse YOU KNOW THAT MOST GUESTS PUMP MONEY INTO YOUR PUB...so on that note, brickbats to your disgusting lack of consideration to anybody else but your perfectly leaf free carpark...guess what buddy...the leaves just keep on falling...so instead of remonstrating your hard working groundsmen, maybe dial it back till at least 8.30....I hear the leaves stop falling around then. WILL NOT PATRONISE THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN...along with my family and several other guests I spoke to. Hmmm not sure WHO you spoke to at 8am yesterday morning but it was not ME!!!!!!!!!!! and as for customers complaining about leaves in the carpark...please give me a break!!!!!!!!!!!! I can certainly understand food prep areas and the INTERIOR being up and ready for business by 8am, but a carpark..oh and funny how I literally saw NOBODY actually in the Bistro and the ONLY cars parked in the offending carpark were those poor sleep deprived souls that were staying in the motel section. Whatever spin you put on it, it just won't fly! I was not the only guest complaining about the noise. Perhaps join forces with reception from the Motel and issue noise cancelling earphones upon check...
