Sublime and beguiling — when the weather is pleasant (early morning and evenings in summer). From my last visit, it was a dreadful, dreary, grey and wet place to be stuck in, but bad weather passes quickly. Cape Otway to the west provides some protection from southerly fronts that wander through. The rock strata at low tide is interesting to explore (watch for critters, both good and bad), and the shoreline can throw up some peculiar flotsam, like fossilised sea-horses and bottles from far away lands. The campground is well sheltered but falling branches during the storm when I was there caused concern. The bay is lovely and sheltered from the wind, and there’s lots of interesting rocks and shells to pick through if you’re so inclined.
