Lots of snakes! Be careful when taking your dog! We saw quite a few tiger snakes, particularly on the lake loop at the far end of the lake (through the reeds and lake walkway, but also in the more woodland areas).

The walk itself is very pleasant, and takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on picnic breaks and snake encounters. Lots of beautiful scenery and plenty of photo opportunities.

Bring your dog for a nice walk, but perhaps only go as far at the lake viewpoint (20 mins?), and not the lake loop. It's really not worth the risk with the amount of tiger snakes we saw towards the far side of the lake. Worth a visit...

I recently visited Lake Elizabeth in Barwon Downs VIC, and it was an experience I will never forget! The tranquil surroundings and peaceful atmosphere make it the perfect place to escape and relax. The lake itself is beautiful and clear, and the surrounding area is full of wildlife. I enjoyed a peaceful walk around the lake, taking in the sights and sounds of nature. There are also plenty of spots to explore. Overall, I had a wonderful time at Lake Elizabeth and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and serene escape. Would make the perfect location for a...

Beautiful lush walk from the car park to the lake (about 1km) through Otway rainforest. The lake was serene and peaceful and looked gorgeous with light rain pattering down on its surface.

It’s almost eerie seeing the remains of tree trunks out in the middle of the water! I later learned this is because the lake is only about 70 years old, and was formed after a landslide dammed the east branch of the barwon river. Fascinating to imagine what’s now underwater once wasn’t.

There’s a walking tracks that loops the lake if you have more time...
