We found that the Logans Beach Platform is well made, and secure. It has multiple levels, and access to the beach. I think it's well designed as thanks to the multi levels, a lot of people can use the platforms, and still see what's going on. I managed to see some whales, but they were a little too far out to see them properly. Of course when I used the zoom lens, I could see the whales, but even then, they were a bit shy. Annually between June and September, Southern Right whales return to the waters of this beach to calve. The whales often swim within a hundred metres of the shore. They can be viewed from a specially constructed platform in the sand dunes or from the beach. The waters are much lower than the platform, thus offering excellent whale spotting opportunity. We didn't see any whales during our visit here. Popular with tourists. Wear comfy shoes, take water, wear hat, sunscreen. Parking is easy...

I'd recommend everyone visiting the town to head over to Logans Beach Whale Watching Platform. There's ample parking, and it's not far from the town center. Whale watching is a matter of luck; we waited a while the first time and were lucky to spot whales, but this time was a bit disappointing. However, I still encourage everyone to come here.
