Mills Park — Attraction in Beckenham

This morning I witnessed a remarkable event for Mills Park Sporting Community and the local Beckenham Community as a whole. The construction fence now pulled down ready for the opening events for our new latest state of the art Mills Park Sporting & local Community Complex to be undertaken. Arguably as goods as gets and finest complex of its type in WA. No longer is the Kenwick Ward the poor relations of the Gosnells Shire and one of our long serving Kenwick Ward Councillors, our dedicated Olwen Searle JP - Mayor has a lot to do with, as I can testify was championing this cause for some 40 years while also teaching our children in their formative years. Ron Mitchell Beckenham Councillor should also be recognized for I remember Ron also rolling up his sleeves some 40 years ago to champion and support us (local sporting administrators and residence) raising our children in this area, an ideal environment to grow a family. We thank-you you both and hope to see you again at this new facility shortly....

Always a great experience, fully equipped park with shelters, bbq's, fenced tennis courts and soccer fields, large ovals and excersise equipment all around the oval. Toilets, cafe (although opening times are not overly user friendly so check ahead) and rooms for hire in a clean community centre. This is a well thought out and designed recreational area but it's extremely popular so get in early with your friends and family on the weekends. The kids love it and there is a huge amount of parking and bike access. There is also a skate park with young volunteers who are happy to help your little one learn how to tear it up on a regular occasion and make sure that everyone is getting along and refreshed (funded by the local council as far as I can tell). Dogs on leads are welcome with plenty of disposal bags available around the oval for those inconvenient messes. There is an off the lead area across the road...

It is a very nice park just i do think the shire fails to maintain it as I have been there on multiple occasions and am not to happy with how untidy and messy it is. My filo baby’s were playing around with batteries in the sand and there were many dog pops all over the concrete and the oval. The skate park is great but all the aggressive skaters were not letting my baby’s scoot around and when one of them aggressively rode into my son he got very angry at him and yelled at him to get out of his way even tho it was a public park. I was afraid for my life and I couldn’t imagine how afraid he was as well I thought this crazy skater was gonna assault my son but luckily he didn’t.
