Great area for hiking, walking, and trail running. Lots of trails to explore. Suitable for any level - I love the steep hills (and views from the top!), but the path by the river is fairly flat and a lovely walk too. No toilets, and trails are not marked, so a printed map or GPS can be useful. Unofficial parking area by the highway is quite rough, plenty of space is you arrive early but can get crowded later...

If you do the whole circuit it is a bit steep in sections, and there is a little scrambling. But the main challenge for me was navigation! GPS is mandatory and even then you will probably lose the track at times.. I know I did! Carry a paper map and compass as backup, you don't want to be screwed if/when your battery dies! Beautiful, many tracks (no signs or mobile reception). I entered from South Western Highway, just north of Byford, and within 10 minutes of walking, I had turned a corner and was in a valley between two beautiful hills and all traffic noise was gone. It was a rainy midweek day and I only saw 4 other walkers, all within the first 5 or so minutes of my 2 hour walk. Glorious!

Fantastic walk even in the rain, beautiful, and hardly anyone around. Only slight detraction is that very wide firetrail throughout, would prefer to have some narrow paths instead. We did note a few to the sides for future investigation. Lovely bush and there seems to have been recent efforts to control the blackberries. Great that we could take it dog too.
