We took the Admiral Rd entrance to visit the Wungong Dam. TIPPick up the brochure "Armadale Walks and Trails" at the Armadale Visitor Centre for detailed information. The first carpark on your left P1 gives you access to the little lake, nice to relax but NO SWIMMING. Also when crossing the road is the starting point for the Wungong Gorge Trail, which we will do another time. Following the road further, there will be a gate with a carpark on your left. From here it is a short walk to the Dam with its magnificent views. At the other end, the Springfield Rd entrance, is another picknick / BBQ area. Don't miss the fantastic mural of birds at the parking lot. All in all, a very pleasant, enjoyable walk, all on bitumen, public toilets, ampel parking and all at...

Disappointed to see what the dam could be. You can see you used to be able to drive over the dam but the road has been closed for what looks like years. Lots of parking and swimming area unfortunately closed. Amazing stone mason work every where you can see the effort that put was put into the parking areas and drainage that you don’t see nowadays. But disappointing what it has been turned into, what could be a great day out for the family and a great country drive. Found a tip on top of the hill as well filled with fairly new signs and park benches, the local council is definitely not looking after this asset. Can’t even spend the money to take it to...

There are various picnic areas around the dam. Down the bottom area and middle area access by Admiral Road. And the top of dam area access by Springfield Road.

The bottom area does have what use to be a swimming area. I use to swim there about 20 years ago however it doesnt seem to be as maintained anymore. I personally would not swim there anymore.

The top area has a more cleaner layout with 2 free gas push button bbq's provided.

There are toilet facilities if needed.

There is a higher area called rotary lookout that you can walk, it is a short trek offering higher views. I feel since the fences were installed this view is...

We drove down Springfield Road to Wungong Dam, a small rockfill embankment dam which is different again to the other 2 dams we’ve visited. A large shaded parking area with some picnic facilities gave easy access to the lookout at the side of the dam, beautifully decorated with a mural by Brenton See and providing a wonderful vantage point with views across the valley. This dam has a massive spillway! On a clear day you can see Garden Island from here but we couldn’t make it out. I found it odd that the only security feature against people actually clambering over the rock embankment were some timber logs!
