Altone Park is great. The main oval is huge, we had 4 large groups of hockey training sessions, a men’s AFL team training and multiple families walking their dogs on the grounds at the same time and there was still 1.5 football oval areas available for use.
Although it is a huge grass area, there are trees around the park providing shade and wind breaks.
The mammoth grassed areas are open to the public and whilst it is a great area, there are the usual uneven areas that occur with a high use ‘natural’ area.
There are public toilets adjacent to the skate and basketball (half) court. At the time, the facilities were clean. The Aboriginal art work on this building is really lovely too and is a great conversation starter for families with children.
