It is supposed to be a great snorkelling spot. I didn't get here, so I can't really rate it but I wanted to give some info. You can drive in a normal car to Maloneys Beach, which is at the start of Murramarang National Park. From there you can climb a long, steep but very well made stair across a headland, and from there, I suppose, down to Chain Beach. The nearby reef can offer some good waves, depending on tide and wind, that are perfect for beginners. The beach offers safety for little ones with smaller waves and a good parents viewing advantage.
