Had a great time here. Friendly staff and good tour guide around the animals. Was good to see the Tasmanian devil feeding time and learnt a lot about them. Friendly kangaroos that eat out of your hand. They were really friendly. Some of the birds, cockatoos and parrots, will talk to you as you walk through the enclosures. They were very cute. Just about all the animals are rescue animals and look very well kept and healthy. One of the best animal parks around and not a zoo. There is a big difference. Had lunch in the restaurant which was very good. My partner and daughter both had a burger which had a freshly made patty and fresh salad. Excellent value for $10 each. I had wedges with chilli sauce and sour cream which was also great value at $8. Coffee was good and the gift shop wasn't too expensive for a tourist place. Quality shirts starting around $25 which is pretty good for a gift shop. Can remember the park entry price being reasonable but can't remember how much exactly. Is worth visiting as it's more of an animal sanctuary and not a zoo. Feed bags for the animals only cost $1 at the shop. It's worth getting a few bags to take around as the kangaroos always seem to want more and there a plenty of them. Great experience for young kids as the kangaroos are patient and friendly. They love a good scratch and rub behind the ears. Would visit again...
Read moreI had the most wonderful time at this wildlife sanctuary with my family. The animals there are really well taken care of and the staff are very friendly.
KANGAROOS (info): They’ll come to you as they can sense the bag of food you have in your hand. (you can buy a bag of kangaroo food for $5) at the gift shop/ cafe. It’s really worth it as you can finish all of it by the time you’re done walking around the place)
TASMANIAN DEVILS (info): Most of the time they’ll be hiding in their holes or eating but I was lucky enough to be able to catch one running around in its enclosure as it was given food half an hour earlier.
There’s signs all over the sanctuary with information about the animals and some fun facts you probably didn’t know.
Do be careful when you feed the “Forester Kangaroo(s)” as they are bigger and more muscular than the regular ones roaming around the place. I was scratched by one of them and left a scar on my right hand but that’s alright as it is my own fault. Be extra cautious if you have kids with you. The very friendly staff there were even kind enough to offer me an alcohol bandage for the scratch.
The place wasn’t very crowded as I visited on a weekday but will probably be on weekends.
Overall, I would definitely come back again in the...
Read moreIf you're on the east coast of Tassie, you have to go to this place. It is amazing!! We were there earlier this week and we paid to do the Devils at Dark and it was more than worth the money! We took our 2 children as well and they were intrigued the whole tour - I thought they'd get put off watching them feed, but they were more fascinated and in awe of these little animals. We learnt new and exciting things about the Devils and we got to watch both the joeys and adults. Our tour guide (sorry forgot his name) was so friendly and full of information. Our cheese, crackers and wine was a lovely addition. If we're ever back in Tassie we would certainly visit here again! If you want to wander and explore with the animals in natural habitats, then this is the place!!! A big thank you to all of the keepers at the park and all involved in trying to keep all of these species alive to be enjoyed by our future children. I'd add pictures but I took mostly videos to enjoy the experience over and over and for our children to show their friends and tell them everything they learned...
