Had a fantastic day out at the rock pool, completing a challenging level 4 bush hike 25 minutes there and back despite the unusual warmth of 30°C in the Australian winter. Spring is just around the corner and I can sense the impending arrival of Summer 👌 It's important for people to know which not suitable for people who have medical conditions, unfit to go steep hill, unbalance rocks and narrow tracks. For the children please keep your kids close to you and be mindful its very slipperly can easily to get hurt or fell in the water cliff It's not safe. Please wear shoes this is my first time experience It's abit of rough patch track and also bring 4 bottles of water, food if you want to stay longer It's beautiful scenery there, first aid just in case if you get hurt, Swimmers and towels is a must the water is so beautifully clean. Enjoy! Pet owners! Don't bring dogs it got Goanna and snakes there I've seen it and don't want get your pets get toxic from them.

Utopia rock pools were amazing It's a bit of a hike from the car park and the rock face where the pools are can be pretty steep so unless you're sure footed I wouldn't attempt it. There were 3 main pools and the water temperature was devine, very cool for a hot day. We took a couple of pool noodles for the kids as the pools are quite deep in places and the rock water slide definitely kept them busy. There aren't any amenities there it's all bush so we did a loo stop in Bigenden and stocked up on goodies before we went up. Take lots of water, lunch and sunscreen and thongs or something for your feet as the rocks get hot. Great experience! We'll be back 😃

This hike is good for experienced hikers and rock climbers. However, if you’re looking for a casual easygoing Sunday morning hike through the woods…this isn’t it. The trail to the cliff-face is very steep, and climbing up the rock face to the summit is precarious and dangerous. There is no rope to hold on to, as I have been told there once was. Not for children or anyone without life insurance. That being said, before the cliff face/ rock-climbing area is approached, there are some spectacular views of the valley below.

Before starting your adventure, check for National Park Alerts on the Qld Gov website. Tracks can sometimes be closed if backburning or other fires are in the area or wet weather has made the track too hazardous. Only a very short drive from Biggenden to the signposted turnoff, then a picturesque few kilometres of dirt road in reasonable condition gets you to the picnic and parking area. The story board at the picnic ground provides interesting history of the area. The walk on the mountain is quite challenging, steep for the most part with very loose stony terrain. If you take your time and are in reasonable health, the expansive views are worth the climb. Round trip is about 2.5 hrs. Take water, sun protection and wear enclosed shoes, walking poles can be handy for assisting the descent. Facilities in the picnic area include toilets, water tank, shelter sheds with tables, but no bbq's because they were stolen and not replaced. Telephone reception is good. Fine weather...
