I’m thankful that my faith hasn’t been lost — in fact, it’s grown stronger day by day. But I do feel that Kingdom City missed the mark with me. I know no church is perfect, and we all make mistakes, but my experience was deeply painful.
I came from a background of severe domestic violence that broke me to my core. When the idea of joining Kingdom City’s Greenhouse came up, I thought it would be a safe place to heal, grow as a disciple, and be nurtured. Instead, I experienced rejection — at this campus.
Yes, I was probably awkward and hard to get to know. But when someone is in deep pain, labelling them as rebellious isn’t the best way to respond. Being consistently misunderstood takes a toll.
One of my most painful moments was during COVID, when I was publicly targeted for not wearing a mask and asked to leave in front of the entire congregation. I understand churches wanted to avoid fines, but the experience left me heartbroken and feeling abandoned. Especially when I later saw that some staff and volunteers did not consistently follow those same rules.
I grew up believing that Jesus could walk among those with leprosy without fear, yet I was surrounded by people hiding behind masks, afraid of each other. It made me question where the courage and compassion of the church was in that moment.
I know I wasn’t the easiest person to like, but often those who are most broken are also the hardest to reach. Thank God He has continued to restore me despite the rejection I’ve felt from His people. I’m still in church today, still meeting people, and still seeing the Lord heal me in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
My journey now includes learning how God wants us to care for our bodies and minds — understanding how the things we eat and the way we live affect our health, thinking, and ability to serve Him. I want to be biblically whole in every way.
I’m sure Kingdom City has helped many people. But I also know there are many who have fallen through the cracks, whose wounds have been left untreated, who may have turned to rebellion or even witchcraft. There are urgent issues in Australia that the church should be standing for — like fighting against late-term abortion. As someone who has had an abortion due to domestic violence, I know the deep pain it causes, and I pray churches will fight for the vulnerable.
I hope Kingdom City will be bold in standing for the truth of God’s Kingdom, even when it’s uncomfortable or costly. I may have been one of the rejects, but God has a calling and purpose for my life that is far greater than the opinions of people — even those in the church.
Its been years since I Visited. But my voice will be heard....
Read more"A time will come when instead of shepherds feeding the sheep, the church will have clowns entertaining the goats" CH Spurgeon. If you were to ask the prince of preachers (Spurgeon) today what church he had in mind, its hard not to go past Life City. Sadly the preaching is not even from the bible. Spending 5min in the bible and 25min somewhere else in your sermon making jokes, recalling experiences, motivating people is not preaching. Its certainly Oprah though. God delights in his people singing but the music overpowers the voices of the saints where you cant even hear yourself think let alone sing joyfully to God but more forcefully. No gospel mentioned at all and the sad thing is, is that Christ is simply not preached. Christ the King is treated in this church as second to the true King on the throne. You! Im certainly convinced there are people who need Christ in this church that will not find him there sadly. Why? Simply because the preacher is adored more than the scriptures, the centre of attention is you not Christ, sin is hardly mentioned and well no authentic wholesome gospel is preached. Ask yourself if you are reading this next time you attend Christian. Do you see Christ as the centre of EVERY song, EVERY sermon, EVERY prayer and EVERY person OR do you see YOU at the centre of EVERY song, sermon, prayer and person. I hope you challenge this point and test if it be true or not....
Read moreLife City is a very attractive Church but not for the right reasons. I have Visited a few times now and I always leave feeling a great sense of disappointment. Their teaching is at best average. There is a whole lot of glitz and glamour, but the fundamental question remains. What of substance is there in this church? You would be hard pressed to find anything remotely nourishing for the believer, as the preaching is so flimsy, weak and quite frankly lazy. The scriptures are not preached and who needs a bible anymore going to church? There are some wonderful genuine Christians here there but growing in your faith in Christ would be very difficult in this kind of environment given the superficial nature of it. You will never be offended, sin and evil will never be preached on, and your ears will be tickled. Truth hurts in a true church. This church will present to you a gospel that is shallow, weak and requires nothing from you. No self-denial or sacrifice just more and more promises and fulfillment for your life. Any Christians who do attend, If you want to mature in Christ I suggest...
