Asked about historic buildings & sites brochure as advertised in 2024 regional booklet. Was informed no such brochure as “didn’t get around to doing it yet”. They instead suggested we look up the street art murals online! I said I had a few historic sites written down so would plot them on our map myself. We felt we were just brushed off! And when we went to the Jetty Historic Precinct, most museums seemed permanently closed, except lighthouse cottage & a cafe! We weren’t informed about the closures & felt we should have been, as they are a few kms drive from CBD.

Friendly welcome. Lots of brochures on Carnarvon and WA in general. Nice to browse the souvenirs and clothing on display. Has a community noticeboard with local activities, including school holiday activities for the kids.

Very helpfull staff. Went out of their way to find a campsite in Denham. Their restaurant suggestion was excellent too.

Don't mention fishing. I did and did not get away with it.

I visited the Visitors Centre today and asked about fishing spots. I was given a photocopy of local fishing spots. The female worker then pointed at the spots on a local map with her chin cupped in her hand, no eye contact and a distant and unfriendly demeanour. I asked one question about mud crabs which she completely ignored and continued pointing at the map.

I am glad it was not called a Visitors Information Centre, as this would have led me to be disappointed by the lack of information. The name "Visitors Centre" does not lead to any pre-conceived expectation and this female worker met the "no expectation mantra" extremely well.

From my experience I would recommend the local Woolworths Staff. They may not be trained to provide "Visitors with a Centre" but they are usually have a pleasant service oriented purpose.

To the female worker, keep up the good work, I am sure you are a credit to um, um,...

Heard some very strange advice being given regarding camping between Quobba and Coral bay. Having come from down there and booked quobba campground the night before it was funny to hear one woman push the station camping rather than where the people were actually enquiring about... just thought this was weird. Otherwise heaps of booklets and whatever, made in China souvenirs. I think one rack of local made postcard sized artworks. Three people were helping two customers and we didnt wait around for help after hearing the kind of advice they...
