Brand's Laira Coonawarra — Attraction in Coonawarra

Brand Laira is a must visit winery when in Coonawarra. Its extraordinarily beautiful, especially if you choose to sit out in the vineyard under a tree on a warm day. They offer free wine tasting of an array of wines and you can buy bottles of the ones you love. We reached there around 3pm and they had stopped serving food but we did enjoy sitting on the grass in the vineyard with our dog. Dogs are not allowed indoors so only one of us could go for the wine tasting session at a time (since it was just us 2 adults and our dog). Wow! Just wow!

This place, especially its cellar door, is incredible. Fantastic wine, especially the Cab Sav and Shiraz varieties. The team were very friendly and knowledgeable. Welcomed my wife and I in and gave us a real history lesson of wine in the Coonawarra region.

The owners private collection was easily the stand-out flagship element of this winery. An old cellar where the new cellar door has been built around it, within it contains hundreds of old wines, many still in tact and unopened, and offers a real step back into history.

Great venue for a picnic while enjoying some Brand's Laira wines. Very extensive tasting list - some of which are only available at the cellar door. We visited Brand's Laira as part of the Coonawarra walking wine trail and didn't have capacity to carry our purchases and needed to be back on the road early the next day. Our server offered to drop our purchases at our hotel on her way home. Such an unexpected and generous offer!
