My favourite winery and a lovely lunch & wine-tasting escape at Howard Park Wines We recently spent an afternoon at Howard Park Wines and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The winery is beautifully located amid vines and native forest, with an architecturally striking cellar door that feels both modern and inviting. We began with a seated wine tasting at the cellar door, the staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and took us through a lovely range of wines, including their Margaret River and Great Southern varietals. We especially enjoyed exploring their “museum” wines with some older vintages that show how the wine evolves over time.
For lunch, we paired a platter of local produce with cheeses, meats, and delicacies with a glass of our favourite wine from the tasting. The combination really complemented the light, fresh wine styles Howard Park is known for. The setting enhanced everything. The lush vineyards, views of native bushland, and peaceful surroundings made us feel relaxed and present. We loved strolling the grounds and pausing to take it all in. Overall, it’s a beautiful place to be, the wines are expressive, the experience is thoughtfully curated, and the atmosphere is calm yet full of character. We’d happily return for another lunch and tasting . it’s one of those places that...
Read moreOne of our favourite wineries and a regular stop when down South. The wines are of good quality, and there’s always a Mad Fish wines special to be had for those keen to grab a bargain. We often pick up a carton of cheap (but enjoyable) Shiraz, though this time the special allowed for a bit more of a selection at just $150 for a carton.
We’ve always found the hosts to be welcoming and conversational. This time around they were from Leicester and British Columbia. Tastings $10.
Plenty of room outdoors to enjoy a bit to eat and for the kids to run around. The koi pond is popular with little ones, just keep an eye on them as it’s not fenced off. While very shallow, it’s deep enough to cause a problem for a young toddler or crawler.
One of the better Margaret River wineries...
Read moreSince we'd been to HP for other tastings, we shared a bubbles tasting experience which wasn't available to us on our previous visit. We sampled the full range of Jeté along with a few other wines. Extremely impressed by the range - bouquet showed profiles of concentrated citrus & herb, while flavors where creamy, some soft & delicate with several fuller bodied & more robust lingering longer. Esther was amazing and kept us entertained with her knowledge and excitement for her work. Excellent value at $25 and bought some cheese & crackers to go along with the tasting. Would be nice with green apple as a cleanser while tasting. Highly recommend going that little further and doing one of HPs tasting experience. Next time we'll try another tasting...
