Fantastic experience seeing the real vibe and inner workings of a rail depot. Lots of friendly people and information. There's a lot of parts that have unaccessible areas, but some are not properly fenced off in my opinion. So it can be a little bit dangerous. If you have young ones, please make sure you keep a good eye on them and a hold of them. At the start they do tell us which areas are best not to go and what you can and can't do but that can be a little confusing or hard to remember after 10 minutes..

So much history! You feel it when you walk past the ancient engines and railcars. Wonderful friendly staff. I'd like to give it five stars but it's still pretty basic. If only it had a cafe? Then again, it's run by enthusiastic volunteers so it can't be perfect.

Very interesting and a good look at an old turntable, a couple of steam engine trains and old trains I remember from my childhood days! Also an old station master house and some good information of historical events revolving the trains in Cowra!

Starting at the old fashioned, well maintained Cowra railway station. The Devonshire Tea was delicious, and provided in a luxurious restored dining car complete with plush upholstery and glossy wood panelling. Came for the Tea and stayed for the train ride in old school passenger cars. We rode in the box cabin section you might recall from old movies. Complete with a volunteer host who explained what we will see and how long the ride will be.(~30 min.) Then another volunteer conductor asking "tickets please" thence clipping our small rectangular cardboard souvenir tickets. Great outing and well worth the price. It seemed everyone had a great time. The whole affair is volunteer run, and they were happy, informative, and kind. Do check ahead for running times beforehand. We were dead lucky to be there on a trip day. I think (check!) they...

Train ride was enjoyable. We went on a trip and destination was Tarana . The organisation left a lot to be desired. No communication about times for dinner from “Luke” who seemed more involved with his own party then letting the tour people know. Our party of 4 plus others eventually walked across to the venue to find out what was going on . Only to be told there were to be 2 sittings of 25 and we’d have to wait till 6.30pm. We didn’t mind the wait but it was the fact that no one knew any of dinner arrangements including the actual dining establishment. We talked to others that went onto Rydal and Wallerawang and they had a total different experience. Their organisers kept them in the loop...
