Unfortunately, because we were on a tour, we were only able to stay in this brilliant place for about 20 minutes. It is absolutely packed with extraordinary paintings, artwork and a variety of other appealing items. Out of respect for the artist we did not take photos inside, but we would strongly recommend this gallery. It really is a cultural gem run by artist duo Mark and Mary Norval. It is rightfully described as being more than just an art gallery but a vibrant hub for the Derby community. The Gallery showcases Mark’s own works alongside pieces from local Aboriginal artists. You certainly wish we had more time to explore. The actual grounds are also quite lovely and there is coffee available.

Highlights include:

• Australia’s most extensive display of historically carved Boab nuts • A stunning collection of rare sea shells • A treasure trove of 5,000 classic LPs for music lovers • Live art sessions where artists share techniques and stories

Even dogs are welcome inside—how’s that for community spirit? You can explore more about it on Nic Duncan’s travel journal. If you’re ever in Derby, this place...

If you are looking for aboriginal art, then Norval gallery is a must to visit. The gallery is like a maze and they all kinds of original work - paintings, sculptures, carvings and clothing. Local artists also work there. You may well get to meet Mark (the owner) as I did, and he was happy to show me around and talk about the background of the artists and paintings I was interested in. There's also a continuous-loop video detailing the history of the gallery and Mark. They will ship paintings ready-to-hang. Nice coffee shop and even a huge 800 year old Boab in the...

A Truly Welcoming, friendly and Brilliant Gallery👍not only Mark Norval's pieces are here. He and his wife Mary also have local artists painting there. We were very lucky to meet, speak to and have a photo with the lovely and talented artist Sarah Ambi after we'd purchased two of her paintings. Thanks so much also to Noni and other kind staff the experience was very heart warming and much appreciated 🙏cheers...

Nice little art gallery located in a converted ground floor with an oasis-style shady garden and small coffee bar outsid. The gallery is chock-full of local artists work, contained within serveral rooms. The shady outdoor garden contains pergolas, seatings and tables. There is a small cafe style coffee bar set up for those looking for a break from the highway. Being Derby no problem finding parking.

Spent a really good morning here with coffee, art gazing, and getting to know Mark and Mary Norval’s amazing story and their connection to Derby and the indigenous people here through art. Mark and Mary are happy to chat and talk about the backstory to These great pieces. If you aren’t 1000 miles away, come in and dig it up, there is no poison pen here.
