We were the last to leave. Loved it. We entered the Sanctuary from the carpark nearest to Black Flats. The Vet centre was closed (Sunday afternoon). From the board walk we saw kangaroos, snake neck tortoises, a nesting swan pair, a bizarre looking (musk?) duck with huge wattles, doing a mating ritual on the water, a few fish and heaps of little birds. On the footpath, more birds kept us inspecting our surroundings (magpie geese, cormorant, parrots and many unfamiliar ones). A bandicoot crossed our path - something my daughter had never seen. The popularity of this great short walk venue means heavy footed people and can scare animals into hiding, so be patient. Please, also stick to the speed limit in the park. It's there for a reason.

A well managed reserve with easy paths with mild inclines accessible by wheelchairs along a pleasant smooth asphalt path. You can walk the short loop or the longer one. Both circle the main water feature. The place is full of birds and wildlife. There are seats and picnic tables along the way as well asetal signs, points of interest, and sculptures. There are reasonable toilets and a generous carpark. It is worth visiting regularly and never disappoints.

Probably the easiest and best place in the world to see platypus in their naturalish environment. Great for families, tourists, nature-buffs and hikers. This fenced-off area has protected bushland and artificial ponds to attract native wildlife. There are walking tracks, viewing platforms and bridges that let you get close-up views of various Australian wildlife. You will probably see platypus, koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, turtles, ducks, black swans, a pelican, many species of ants, and many species of water- and bush-birds all year round. Lizards, (venomous) snakes, more waterbirds and more are around seasonally. There are two major covered spots to rest with toilets, some seating along the track, several cool-designed and interactive havens, a veterinary building with occasional treatments on view, educational and inspirational info along the track and some very interesting guides you can book. It is pram and wheelchair accessible, though tree roots affect some of the path. The info centre sells $13 car passes needed to drive in. It has food, drinks, toilets, hands-on exhibits, astrophotography, souvenirs, books, and more to entertain...
