Dorrigo National Park is a breathtaking natural wonder that offers visitors an unforgettable experience in the heart of a World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforest. Located just an hour from Coffs Harbour, this park feels like stepping into another world.
The park's crown jewel is undoubtedly the Crystal Shower Falls, a stunning waterfall that you can actually walk behind. The Skywalk Lookout provides panoramic views stretching all the way to the coast, offering a unique perspective of the lush rainforest canopy.
For nature enthusiasts, the Wonga Walk is a must-do. This 6.6 km loop takes you through subtropical rainforest, past 600-year-old trees, and the beautiful Tristania and Crystal Falls. The park is also a birdwatcher's paradise, with chances to spot colorful species like the wompoo fruit-dove and the regent bowerbird.
The Dorrigo Rainforest Centre is an excellent starting point for your visit. It offers informative exhibits, a café, and access to various walking tracks. Don't miss the opportunity to take a ranger-guided tour to gain deeper insights into this ancient ecosystem.
Whether you're looking for scenic picnic spots, challenging hikes, or simply a place to reconnect with nature, Dorrigo National Park delivers on all fronts. It's a testament to the raw beauty of Australia's natural heritage and a place that will leave you in awe of the wonders of the...
Read moreI went to the National Park Rain forest Centre and it was wonderful. The Skywalk is more densely shaded than on my last visit but the views from the lookout at the end are still magnificent. There are a number of walks you can do. The Wonda Walk is good for those who don't have too much time to linger as it's a circular walk. Other walks can take 2-3 hours. On my last visit the rain forest was full of Whip Birds but this time there were none. But there were plenty of Scrub Turkeys and I also got to see a Diamond Python as it slowly climbed into a tree taking no notice of me or other people whatsoever. There is an elevated Bird Walk in the rain forest where many birds can been seen and heard. The Cafe on your return is well worth a stop at to buy something to eat and the gift shop is also well worth a look around with many good quality gifts available to buy. There's also a theatre room showing videos about the rain forest so one can learn how the forest is created naturally. You have to pay to walk on the Skywalk and in the rain forest but as of May 2018 it was very cheap. Only $2 admission fee. I'll definitely be going again but the next time after there's been recent heavy rain and then the waterfalls will be...
Read moreAlways a wonderful place to go. It is worth doing a walk through the rainforest here, especially now since the paths have been vastly improved since the last time I was here a few years ago. As a birdwatcher I can suggest getting here early in the morning for a very good chance of seeing lyrebirds. Getting here early is beneficial to anyone as in peak seasons it can get very busy due to its popularity. The gift shop has some good items, although I would have liked to seen a few local bird plushies such as the Regent Bowerbird, or the Superb Lyrebird. The cafe is a good place to get a rest aswell.
Going to Never Never picnic area and doing the walk there is a great idea, however it can be a bit long for some people especially those passing through the area. The reward for going through with the walk is a spectacular view from the top of a waterfall. It is also good to know that there are far less people here.
It is my personal recommendation to arrive early for a walk through the main national Park, resting at the cafe before moving on to Never Never picnic area. I would then recommend going back into town for lunch and then taking the short trip to Dangers Fall for some more...
