Absolutely stunning and wonderfully tranquil. Emu Bay is one of those hidden gems where you can truly unwind. We took a drive right along the beach — and it was such a peaceful experience. The beach was quiet, with soft white sand and crystal-clear water stretching endlessly.

Read moreWouldn't recommend walking from the playground/town - Loads of seaweed piled on the town-end of the beach, and sand is hard as a rock to sit on (pretty compacted due to being driven on).
However, if you drive down onto the beach (suitable for a regular sedan) and go about 1km down the beach, it gets a lot nicer. The hard sand makes it good for a long walk or run, or running the dogs (there are lots of dogs around off-leash).

The irony is there is a sign as you enter warning about watching out for the hooded plover which lays its eggs in the sand - yet hoons drive about all over the place.
