We are frequent lovers of Peninsula hot springs so when this opened I assumed it was going to be bigger and better, and was very excited! We booked the glamping tent on the river, and while this was a lovely experience, there were a few things that dampened our stay. Like others who’ve left reviews 3-4months ago (and nothing on the website/communication has changed), we had no idea that things were still under construction and it was only partly open. A few pools weren’t open yet and there was construction sites in our view from our tent. Also a few other small touches were missing - I watched countless people try to push the change room door open and had to tell them to slide it as there is no sign. Also no signs/instructions on our private barrel tubs. (We assumed Taps were hot and cold and wasted far too much time working out there was a tap for each tub) A simple “tub one, tub two” Sign would suffice. That probably sounds petty but all those little things added up. Like having to catch a golf cart to the other pools because the bridge wasn’t built yet, or the pools not being warm enough (I overheard a few people complain about this). Being half open would have all been fine if this had been communicated to us beforehand and we were paying a discount price to be there. Otherwise we would have waited until it was fully opened. But we had absolutely no idea. There’s only really 4 small pools to use, one being a golf buggy ride away, and for the 8 hour round trip from Melbourne and the $800 per night, it felt like a let down.

I think this place has potential and I loved that everything they give you in the tents are sustainable and ethical. Breakfast in bed was nice too. And the tent was super cute (though very noisy overnight - I wish I had used the earplugs they supplied us in the room).

But all in all I was hoping for a much better experience and really feel they didn’t do right by us by not fully communicating everything. It feels like they are purposely not saying anything to customers. It’s currently a very far second to Peninsula...

A mixed bag of good and disappointing, mostly just due to this being unfinished. I don't recall seeing anything on the website about this. It should absolutely be transparent about what you're paying for (and you're paying a lot).

The outstanding: the glamping tent (we stayed in one of the lagoon side ones) was sublime. Great view. Cosy. Amazing big bed. Barrels to bathe in on the balcony decking. A generous canape hamper upon arrival (and a special Easter choc selection from the nearby chocadence -- incredible decadent chocolates).

The good: the location and views from the pools that are operational.

The disappointing: the lack of pools that are available. This place is still very much under construction. There's not enough available to accommodate the amount of people that are admitted. We were crammed into pools at times and when we left today a group of about 30 had arrived. I can't see how they'd find enough space to all bathe and remain together. This is very unlike the expansive and wonderful Peninsula hotsprings. Also, the hotsprings often didn't feel all that hot. Perhaps the atrocious weather on Easter Sunday made it feel this way.

The annoying: perhaps this is snooty of us, but we really felt the admittance of young children let the atmosphere be not that relaxing at times. Some kids were well behaved, but on Sunday there were a lot of kids running around and shouting and just being kids. I know it's a family venue and that's great, but there should probably be an adult's only area for those that want to sit in tranquility as much as possible. (Alternatively, the staff should just be keeping an eye on this a bit more and make a few polite requests if necessary.)

As it stands, this is a big cost for the trip and without the transparency of what you're getting then it could likely leave you disappointed. I'd wait until this is completed. To the management, I'd really like to see better transparency about the Under Construction nature conveyed on your website and emails. Having said that, the glamping side really...

We visited the Metung Hot Springs on Saturday, and I must admit, we were thoroughly impressed by the experience. From the moment we arrived, the courtesy and friendliness of the staff stood out, making us feel welcomed and well taken care of.

The spa facilities were top-notch, with impeccably clean pools that were a delight to soak in. We particularly loved the top hill area, featuring charming barrel pools and a stunning pool overlooking the lake. The view was breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop to our relaxation.

The sauna, nestled among the trees, added to the tranquil atmosphere, allowing us to unwind completely. All the pools were maintained at a comfortable 36-38 degrees Celsius, perfect for a soothing soak. The availability of two cold pools and several massaging showers offered refreshing options and added variety to our experience.

The relaxation area, a cute covered space, was another highlight. It was a cozy spot to unwind between dips, and we enjoyed the peaceful ambiance. It’s clear that the facility is undergoing some renovations, and we look forward to returning once the work is completed.

If there was one area that could use improvement, it would be the changing rooms and bathroom space at the entrance. It was a bit tight, and expanding this area would enhance the overall comfort for guests.

We also indulged in a snack and coffee at the on-site café, which was delicious and added to the overall positive experience. Additionally, the car park is equipped with six charging stations for electric cars, which is a fantastic convenience for EV owners.

Thank you to the entire team at Metung Hot Springs for a memorable and relaxing day. We can’t...

Today was my first time visiting Metung Hot Springs, accessed via Storth Ryes Avenue. There is a small section for parking which fills up quickly plus an overflow parking area up the hill. Booking ahead is essential and I'd recommend bringing a water bottle, thongs/sandals, bathers (wear on arrival) and a change of clothes. You can hike a bath robe, towel and a locker if required. Metung Hot Springs is quite a large site but there's plenty of directional signage and a map which can be downloaded via the app. The main areas are the Lagoon, Hilltop Escarpment and the Bathing Ridge each with various pools, saunas and lounge areas. You also get amazing views over the Tambo Bluff into Lake King. Be prepared to walk up lots of steps accessing different parts of the Hot Springs. They have the temperature of the pools written on the signs, some of which can be up to 38-39 degrees. I found the barrels the hardest to adjust to as I don't have a high enough tolerance to very hot temperature. But other pools like the Lagoon pool and the Manna Gum pool are quite comfortable and very relaxing. The scenery is absolutely stunning. Lots of stacked rocks, native vegetation, eucalyptus trees, ferns, waterfalls and fountains. You can also access the foreshore along Lake King and go for a short walk. Overall, this is a great place to visit and explore. Being literally immersed in the coastal bushland environment of Metung only adds to the experience and relaxing atmosphere. And you can stay all day there if you want to.
