Warrie circuit 7:45am we arrive. 4 coffee and food filled individuals ready for a day out. A quick offload in the toilet was planned, unable to execute due to the spider guarding the space. On we went to think this was our last upset. We were right!… The first 3 kilometres were a dream. Passing twin falls, rainbow falls - though misty and raining. The ample amount of water made for quite the show. Walking behind, through and underneath the falls. The cumulative downpour was resulting in water seeping into my trousers. Pushing on despite these conditions. We neared the half way mark. The Garmin ticks over to 5km, another waterfall crossing. A minor slip on the stones resulted in a submerged foot, ankle high! A quick empty of the show water logged revealed my first nightmare. A leech, oh wait another! Cold and wet hands with poor dexterity they were off my body. We all checked our selves! ‘Oh I have more!’ Stopping to pick them off only resulted in more leeches jumping on. 1 goal, do not stop. We then picked up the pace for the next 7km… with only the uphill left… 520 metres of elevation to get back to the car. The last waterfall crossing, the hardest, water levels highs, obvious crossing stones, submerged. Another casualty. This time knee high! Past Canyon Falls, the air smelt different. The feeling of being soaked felt like another layer of skin. We are nearly there. Finishing the walk, bleeding, in pain, having phantom itches. I love walking. I love the rain. But I do not like leeches. But for many moments, I hated this choice I made.
If it rains - please really consider your clothing attire and resilience before partaking. It’s now 6 hours later. We have many fond memories...
Read moreWarrie Circuit is the best way to experience this section of Springbrook National Park. The entire trail was just breathtaking! There were so many waterfalls and flowing creeks and one could hear the sounds of flowing water most of the way. My favourite was being able to walk behind the waterfalls!
It took us around 5hours to complete with a lunch break and multiple breaks to admire the beauty of the falls and the surroundings.
We found it easy to locate the starting point, and there were signposts at multiple junctions to assist in following the trail. The descent to Meeting of the Creeks is fairly easy, but the ascent back to the starting point gets very steep very quickly. There are multiple waterfalls on the way back, where you can stop to get a break and relax before continuing. As stated on the park guide, this trail does require some experience and fitness.
Also, do be mindful of your steps as some sections can get muddy and slippery. There are lots of small rocks on the path as well so wear supportive footwear and be mindful of your steps. Don't forget to be aware of leeches and always have something handy to deal with them if you get bitten.
Overall, we had an amazing time walking this trail. The falls, creeks, sounds of nature and views are all amazing which makes this is a must do trail for hikers with a bit...
Read moreGorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Waterfalls and rainforest galore. Such peace and serenity, you are at one with nature on this walk. My mum and I did this in less than 5 hours, breaks included. We began anti-clockwise (start at a right when looking out at Canyon Lookout, where the big map is). Had we gone clockwise we are sure we would've found it harder. The descent in the first half was fine with some hairy areas. Keep in mind there are slippery sections with a sheer drop- exercise caution. There are sections where you need to climb over big rocks to cross running water. We began at 9:30am which is later than we wanted but had a slow start to our morning. I really wouldn't recommend starting this walk after 10:30-11 especially if you think you will need several breaks. Gets dark early. We didn't have any problems with leeches or bugs.
The ascent from Meeting of the Waters (rough halfway mark, lowest part of the walk) requires some fitness. It's about a 5-6km hike almost entirely uphill. Keep in mind you will be tired from the first half of the walk by that point, bring snacks and plenty of water. Maybe don't embark on this walk if you question your fitness levels; easy to get stuck and can get desolate in parts.
We saw a big python on our way back up-mesmerising. Would 100%...
