I'm glad I wasn't put off by the negative reviews. If Secret Garden has been degraded then it must of been heaven on earth before! I found it still beautiful though amazed that people had left their trash behind. Simple, bring a bag as we did, and collect rubbish, put in bin on way out, kids enjoyed it! There is parking for about 5 vehicles at the Secret Garden entrance and street parking further up towards the shade sail playground on Careniup ave. It was muddy when we went and it is not even winter so lucky we were wearing gumboots. I was glad I had left a plastic tub in the car to put our muddy boots in and a change of shoes. I'd bring a towel for your car seats if you have young ones or a change of clothes for the trip home. There is a part of the secret garden which is covered in vine and there is also a bamboo section which is equally impressive. There is planks to cross the water ways. We encouraged the kids to only play with the bamboo which was on the ground rather than snapping off growing shoots, pretty basic respectful type behaviour for future people to also enjoy this place. There is a small playground at one side and a shade sail playground on the other side. Karrinyup waters resort/caravan park back rear fence line adjoins the...

Equal parts amusement and despair at the number of sheeple flocking to a patch of suburban swamp. It is now a trampled, muddy, rubbish strewn area and is a sad indictment on the lack of respect, imagination and individuality that Perth people possess.
I think Simon Rees' comments in his "ad" are missing the point completely, professional photographers are partly to blame for the destruction of this area.
Perth Croquet; you are quite correct, you have absolutely no right to judge or complain, tourists like you are to blame for the destruction. To suggest or even imply that locals should in some way maintain this area is nonsense, as no locals wanted nor invited the hundreds of sheeple to trample this once secluded patch of swamp into its current...
Read moreWhat a beautiful experience. My friend and I were there during the week and there were only two or three other people there. We stayed for hours enjoying the tranquillity, the beauty and the wonderful sounds of nature. There was a man mowing the surrounding park lawns with a tractor but he was doing a brilliant job so I made sure I told him. He was so proud of his job, he was even brushing his tractor clean at the end! This place is just magical but it's just such a shame that there's so much development planned around it. I even understand that one resident that faces the park, is planning on dredging the wetlands to subdivide his enormous block. What a shame for all those other people who have bought their homes for the view. I can't believe the development has been...
