It was our first time out here and we loved the trails, well maintained, lots of them, and long. The longest one over 7km of downhill is amazing. There are several well signed loops to do by yourself, and a shuttle service you can use for an additional $60/person that brings you to the top of some epic trails 3 times. We booked our shuttle for 10am and we ended up going uphill at 10:52, almost an hour just waiting on an expensive shuttle. In the back 8/9 people were packed like cattle and the ride up was painstakingly slow. It litterally took us a lot longer to go up than we could enjoy the twisty downhill trails. According to people that have been here before the shuttle service used to run like clockwork with plenty of buggy's (we've seen only one go up today) brought you up much faster and more comfortable, but new management has turnd this service into todays mess. Hence the point deduction from maximum score.
Overall, we will likely come back, but hopefully the shuttle service is back to it's old standard by then. For $20/person/uplift, that service deserves to be a luxury, not an uncomfortable slow ride after a wasted hour!
Notes: When you do not use the shuttle, I would not recommend doing this park without an E-MTB. The climbs to the interesting trails are long and steep and will wear 90% of the people out before they reach the beautiful downhill trails.
Plenty of wildlife going around, we saw a few kangaroos hopping the trail, and magpies regularly got up close and personal...
Read moreThis place was incredible! Granted this was my first mountain bike trail experience, but what a first.
Once greeted by super friendly staff and signed in at the main office and payed entry fee which was only $10, your given a map to over 100kms of trails to choose from.
These trails range from easy/beginner to the more difficult types. On the day I followed the trails that were recommended for someone with little to know experience and the recommendations were perfect.
Situated pretty much in the middle of the park is a skills area where you can test out your skills on bridges, log runs, seesaw's and much more. This area also has a spot to fill up your water bottle.
I got a bit lost on one of the trails (Dandys) but managed to find my way back onto the trail easily enough. Turns out the cows have a habit of creating misleading trails so pay close attention to where your going.
Ive never enjoyed myself so much on my mountain bike and would recommend to anyone to check it out. Its only 20 minute drive from Rosewood and...
Read moreWasn't sure what to expect, but I've come away thinking that I'd like to explore more under my own power and not bother with the shuttles. It's definitely an awesome view at the top of 500 Above, but you can't admire it while riding down. It's also too long for me. If you have a knee or hip injury you'll probably end up in pain by the time you reach the end. Conditions varied wildly. Skyfall (which was my favourite) was wet with a section closed off, then Fairy Wren and Plane Sailing were dry af and you're eating dust from the rider in front. The staff said most maintenance is done on the big trails that you get shuttled to, so I'm wondering if it's even worth exploring the rest considering the long drive to get there and admittance fee. The proposed camping site sounds good though, and would negate the travelling issue and expense of...
