Homage Restaurant at Spicers Peak Lodge at Grandchester is one of my favourite places to visit. Be sure to choose a sunny day and head out for brunch.
Their menu always starts with a serving of fresh fruit and pastries, along with fruit juice and barista coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. Then choose from a selection of delicious hot dishes on the menu… from items such as Eggs Benedict, to Waffles, Vanilla Rice Pudding, and Beef Short-ribs with cornbread and creamed corn. Or choose the big breakfast! All this for one set price per head.
You can choose indoor dining or sit out on the sprawling verandah overlooking the lagoon style pool and beautiful mountain ranges in the distance.
The homestead itself is absolutely stunning! The decor is elegant yet rustic in its design. Beautiful big chandeliers, and attention to detail in every part of the styling. The surrounding gardens are immaculate.
There are big couches by the fireplace you can relax in after a meal, where we sat for hours and played board games and cards while enjoying drinks from the bar.
There’s also a fire pit outside on the verandah and it was lovely to watch a family toasting marshmallow’s… laughing and smiling together.
The bar area is beautiful and has a great selection of cocktails and wine.
There is so much to see and do on the property at Spicers Peak Lodge. We played a game of pétanque on the lawn (French bowls)…. and wandered around the gardens.
The Barn is also open for lunch if you choose to stay for the day. Here you can play pool, relax on the terrace and enjoy more of a BBQ style meal.
There is an adventure centre on the property where you can go bushwalking, trail biking, play archery, tennis, or go on a 4WD excursion. So much to see and do at this beautiful venue, only an hours drive...
Read moreThe Homage Restaurant is part of the Spicers group which is a premium brand of hotels with some of the most beautiful locations to stay and dine at in Australia. We very very excited to eat here yesterday as it is close to where we live . The location is absolutely premium with a view beyond description and a beautiful outdoor area for the covid aware . The staff who waited on us for lunch were absolutely premium. The menu was mouth-watering premium.
Unfortuately the meal was not. When your bill for lunch will come to about $250.00 for 3 courses plus a bottle of wine, it is very sad to say the dessert course, the bottle of wine and the staff were the highlight of the 3 course meal that we had at Homage
The entree was average. The main course was so disappointing . My partner had the lamb which was presented beautifully but was so tough she could not cut it without alot of effort and was not able to eat it. I tried some and man was it chewy
We rarley say anything negative but our lovely waiter asked how was the food and he was crestfallen when we told him .Bless him he offered to replace the dish straight away, but my wife told him she was full anyway but the real reason was she was worried it would be the same and didnt want to disappoint him again. Luckily he didnt asked about my fish.
The question I always ask myself after a rare outing to a premium restaurant . Would I go again or recommend my friends go ? I'm...
Read moreA long drive for a disappointing breakfast. We booked here for a birthday brekky, drove about an hour from Brisbane, and were really looking forward to it given the hype around it being a hatted restaurant etc. We had to wander around to find someone to seat us, as the waitstaff didn't engage with us while we stood in the dining room. The person who did seat us was working at reception, so didn't seem to understand that we weren't staying at the accommodation and directed us to a 'buffet' of fruit, granola, and yoghurt, also telling us that we had 'unlimited' drinks. We chose to sit inside (it was the peak of QLD summer), and the number of flies in the dining room was absurd. We ordered coffees, which were small and luke-warm at best, so decided not to test the 'unlimited' drinks if that was the quality. Breakfast servings were unbelievably small, even with adding extra sides. I paid $4 for a side of avocado which was, at most, 2 tablespoons of discoloured mash. We paid $130 for 3 people and were left unsatisfied in so many ways. I think it's set up for people who are staying at the accommodation and have their breakfast included in the price, so they're going light on portions. If so, don't accept outside bookings for breakfast, which is what many other hotel restaurants do for that reason. We would've gotten better food for less in the city, which seems counterintuitive. So disappointed and wouldn't return...
