This was a great walk! It was a 15km round trip and I personally recommend starting at the dam end. Why, you ask?? Well. 1. There are toilets and a nice picnic area with grass, BBQ's and kangaroos. 2. You can start and end at the dam (so nice to swim in!) 3. Yes, you are going uphill 7.5km to the serpentine cemetery carpark where you turn around...but then you are going down hill 7.5km to end!! (Speaking from experience of doing the downhill first...definitely the wrong way!) The only consideration is that you need to have a national parks pass to park at the dam end. 🔥 TIP...you can get a discounted one if you are with RAC! The trail is narrow and is very varied as it goes through pine forest, bush scrub, along creeks, rocks, gravel, fields etc. It is certainly not a boring track! Even in late November, there were some good flowers and greenery around. A lot of the track is in shade which is nice. I loved swimming at the dam. Very refreshing! The only negative❗️was that the track needs a prune back!! I like a narrow trail for sure and getting into nature, but I don't enjoy getting scratched by thorny bushes and attacked by sticks. Coming into snake 🐍 season, it is also a safety concern to not be able to see where you are putting your feet!

What a great walk! My wife and I did this today, 16 klm return. We started at Jarrahdale cemetery. Took us just over four hours. Easy parking at start of trail, no toilets facilities until you get to Serpentine Falls end. Parking at falls end is very nice, but looks like it fills up pretty quick, we got there about 10:30am and the place was pretty busy, lots of people setting up to use BBQ and seating areas, really nice spot.. The walk itself is great, awesome country and given the time of year we went, the water was really flowing, great sets of falls at multiple areas along the way. You cross the creek/river multiple times with good foot bridges installed. Bird life was awesome, blue rens were a highlight. Saw Kangaroo's and of course two joe blakes (see pic). One was right across the trail the other was moving pretty fast once he heard us. My wife and I are in our fifty's, she had a few rests on a couple of the uphill parts, but by no means a "fit" person and we did it no worries! We did have good hiking boots, take lots of water and some food, there is none at either end unless you go into Jarrahdale itself. Highly recommend!

Absolutely gorgeous! No signs of dangerous critters or bugs to look out for, no signs or activity from any snakes or anything like that. Brushing my legs through tall grass and shrubs I came out with no bugs, no bites no nothing so really happy as someone who isn’t from Aus🤣😆… walked from the cemetery at the top fown to the bottom to the falls, and then back up again. Relatively steep and somewhat tricky even for my partner and I who are both very fit and able. So maybe advised to do a car shuttle or uber back up should you be less active, under time restrictions or with children. Gates and deadlines seem to only apply for the national park and the bottom of the trail where the picnic area and toilets are. No parking fee when parking up top by the cemetery. Fee only applies at the national park, as well as signs saying to be back at your vehicle by 4.30pm/5pm as they close the gate. (We saw no gates anywhere from jarrahdale, so assumed they are at the park entrance instead). All paths have small direction arrows colour coded for each trail. Most paths are well trodden so its easy to stay on track and not get lost👍
