What an amazing place. Took the family for two night mini holiday and Toured 3 caves. It was spectacular. Fully guided tour with descriptive information as we made our way through the caves. There are also Adventure Tours, when available (check website) I would suggest you plan an itinery and prebook all your tickets, accomodation, etc. Set in a National Park, so do not take dogs $30,000 fine. We left our pup for the day at Oberon Vet from 9am-3pm for a fee of $33 which i though was a fantastic rate. The Caves are surrounded by stunning Australian bush with beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife, wallabies and birds namely but my grandson cleverly found large lizards burrowed in fallen tree stumps and water drogons were sunning in the waterfall. The Grand Arch entrance, another visually stunning rock formation, is also spectacular although at the time we visited, we were escorted via another entry/exit road but we could still gain access once at Caves. You actually entre some Caves within the Grand Arch. There is the blue lake which is very pretty and walking tracks. Due to recent heavy rainfall and flooding (we visited Sept 2022) a lot was sealed off for safety due to falling rocks and some landslides across road, however, I felt quite safe. Just stay within the permitted area and follow instructions. It is well organised and ample staff available for assistance. There is accommodation at Jenolan Caves, we stayed at a Caravan Park in the small town of Oberon which was about a half hour drive that seemed to go pretty quick. I noticed more accommodation on the road we took into to Caves but there is plenty of places to stay through the whole area. There is a Cafe to purchase nice hot meals, sandwiches, cakes, cold refreshing drinks, hot coffee and icecreams, etc. Plenty of tables and chairs around both indoors and outside in the shade or sunshine to enjoy your food. If you have children, the waiting area for tours, has plenty of stimulating sensory things to see and do as you wait & keep all entertained both young and old. In particular, the mini waterfall is within this area. Truly an unforgettable holiday.

The caves are amazing. It is really beautiful to see the wonders of nature underground and it was a good opportunity to discover the difference of dripstones from the cave systems that we have in Europe. Because of the component and structure and geographical aspects, the dripstones look slightly different than in Europe. The overall experience was also good, and the tour guide was also very kind, but you should be aware if you want to go there that online a lot of tickets are already booked in advance. We wanted to visit at least 2 caves in one day that we were there, and online we could only book for the first chosen cave only one ticket that has been left (This was the Orient cave). Due to tight space in the cave, limited tickets are available online, but at site I asked if we could buy another ticket and they squeezed us in. For the second cave for which the tour started 2 hours later (Imperial Diamond Cave) we were able to book online. 3 kms before the caves you need to stop and then wait for an escort vehicle to give you the green light to go up until the parking space as the road is one-way only. The same goes when coming down, you have to wait until they give you permission to descend from the cave. If you want to visit Blue Lake as well, just a short information, there is currently nothing to see there as heavy rainfalls destroyed the landscape and it is full of big rocks there, so the rainfall washed away everything, so they told us there is no point going there. Close to the caves there is a small gift shop and a cafeteria if you want to eat or drink a coffee in the meantime. Ticket price varies at least for the two caves that we visited we paid 60$ and 52$ per person, depending on the cave that you want to visit. Also, it might be useful for some people, this place is a national park, and dogs are not allowed at all. If you plan to go from Sydney, driving there is at least 3 hours, so you can plan a whole day trip to Jenolan Caves.

In August 2023, my wife and I embarked on an epic journey to Jenolan Caves, Australia, and boy, did it rock our world! Jenolan Caves: These ancient limestone caves are world-renowned for a reason. Stalactites and stalagmites greeted us at every turn, giving the caves an otherworldly vibe. Names like Lucas Cave, Orient Cave, and Imperial Cave only added to the adventure. Underground Thrills: Our cave explorations were an absolute blast! We navigated narrow passages, entered dramatic chambers, and marveled at crystal-clear underground rivers. The Chifley Cave, with its delicate formations and mesmerizing underground pool, was an absolute highlight. Wildlife Wonders: Beyond the caves, the Blue Mountains National Park was a wildlife wonderland. We crossed paths with wallabies and kookaburras during our bushwalks. The natural beauty was a refreshing contrast to the subterranean world we'd just explored. Cozy Lodging: We bunked at the historic Jenolan Caves House, a charming lodge that added a comfy touch to our adventure. Chisolm's Restaurant served up delicious meals with a focus on local ingredients. Perfect fuel for our next exploration! Conclusion: Our Jenolan Caves escapade was an enchanting blast! It deepened our appreciation for Australia's natural wonders and geological history. The caves' beauty, coupled with the serenity of the Blue Mountains, left us grinning from ear to ear. If you're up for an unforgettable adventure, Jenolan Caves is the place to be. In August 2023, we dove headfirst into the heart of Australia, and what we found underground will forever be a high point in our travel tales!

Came down in September 2023 to see the caves and was definitely not disappointed in the experience. I used to go to cave sites as a kid with my dad, and thought it would be fun to come here together for the first time. He was a bit too tired to continue with the night time tour, but enjoyed Chifley Cave immensely. The stairs on the way in are probably the biggest barrier in terms of fitness, but I think the assessments they have listed for difficulty are very fair and accurate. Chifley Cave is the last cave to include coloured lights for their formations, and while this is fun, the other caves' more naturalistic lighting really lets the crystals show their true shades! I later toured through the Imperial-Diamond night time experience with my partner, and both tours I went on were a delight. The caves themselves are beautiful and the many formations just breath-taking to see. The history of the caves' discovery and exploration is all really fascinating as well. Both of our guides (Jaime, apologies if the spelling is incorrect, for Chifley; Jeff for Imperial and Diamond) were very knowledgeable about the history and structures within the cave, and shared everything they possibly could when asked questions. I would only advise that you not plan anything immediately following your chosen tours. Both of ours ran about 10 minutes over time because there was so much to see, and we all just wanted to linger in the caves a bit longer to admire the crystals.

Well, my review is just based on the Chifley Cave as we could get the booking only for this tour. Here are a few tips: Planning/ booking: -book the tour ahead in time based on what works best for you(depending on your mobility). - you would have tours that lasts between 1.5 or 3 hrs. So choose wisely as each cave has a timeslot & it's a guided tour with the guide doing a great job enlightening the importance of the cave, its formation & features. Arriving: - when we drove, due to the roadworks, we had to wait for the escort vehicle to drive us to the entrance of the cave. - ensure to give ample time before arriving as the tours are fixed for a specific time & you would certainly not want to miss an opportunity to explore. Plan in a way that you can arrive at least 45 mins prior. It's ok to wait & not to lose your opportunity/money/effort. - from the car parking, there is a pickup / drop service to the reception. In case you are tired or don't wish to walk down the hill to get to the reception office. - once you get to the reception, report your arrival & get your wristband to start the tour. The office will guide further. Actual tour: - get your camera ready as you can make pics (if you enjoy photography) where possible (again follow the instructions from the guide). - enjoy your tour. Get mesmerised in the beautiful history/geographic information of the cave. Get ready to carry wonderful memories of your trip / tour.

Honestly, this is one of the most majestic places I have ever been to. And don't take that lightly, I mean it is actually one of the most astonishingly beautiful places if ever seen. And I've seen many things all around the world, aswell as being pretty hard to impress with this kind of stuff. If you ever plan on coming to New South Wales or if you're planning to come to Australia from over seas, come here. You will not be disappointed. I would try to tell you how great it was (I've tried writing it a few times now) but I just can't. All I can really say is that you have to see it, the pictures I have provided are almost depressingly out of proportion to the true beauty of seeing it in person and it's barely scratching the surface of what you'll see. I would travel for hours to enjoy this wonder and travel hours back to my hotel, but I didn't have to. There is a hotel directly next to the Grand Arch (the main entrance to the caves, which is also stunning). It is so close to the actual caves that you can walk to the grand arch from your room in less than a minute. It has fine dining as well as a cafè, I have to say it isn't particularly cheap for the fine dining but it is very good. Lastly, as a recommendation, you should try and do multiple cave sections if not all of them. Each one is as unique as the next and unfortunately I did not have enough time to do them all which is why I'm going back next year.
