Attended with a large group last Sunday, a 50th birthday for someone that happens to be a hatted restaurant owner and while nice ambience, the food was terrible and with quality lacking this made the price very expensive. We attended with great expectations based on good reviews, but the following is a review from 10 months ago and we couldn't agree more! For us, the only redeeming feature was seeing an echidna on the road after leaving. (Father in law also wanted to added that for him, the acoustics of the building are so bad couldn't hear anything hear a thing!!) Review from 10 months ago - things haven't changed!! "We visited Kyneton Ridge Estate yesterday as a group of 8. When we arrived, we were seated quickly, and the staff were very polite (The only redeeming factor of the whole experience). We ordered 6 Pizzas for the table, a bottle of Red and some other soft drinks. When the wine came, it was cold to the touch, far too cold for red wine, but we figured no big deal and continued on. Then the first 2 pizzas came. Keep in Mind, these Pizzas are $25 each, and genuinely looked like supermarket bought microwave pizza. They are absolutely not wood-fired, when we turned to look at the kitchen we saw a young chef running the operation on his own. The pizza was horrifically undercooked, raw dough on the bottom, cheap cheese and salami. The kitchen also seems to be able to only produce 2 pizzas every 20 minutes, so by the time the second round of Pizzas had come, everyone that got the first batch of Pizza was finished. Every pizza that came out was equally undercooked. Again, all the staff were very nice, but the whole dining experience should be avoided...
Read moreI hate to leave negative reviews, particularly in the current covid climate with so many businesses struggling. However, some of the customer service we received today from the male owner was astonishingly rude. We visited Kyneton Ridge with friends, and between us had 6 small children, aged from 2 years to 7 years. As we knew the kids would want to play outside we sat down on the front deck. The boys started playing in the dirt in the front of the deck. The male owner then came over and told them off for doing so, and said that they were trying to grow grass there. Ok, fine, it’s his turf, but equally is it worth making that point, particularly when the area in question was literally just mud, and given doing so was clearly going to make us feel self-conscious and uncomfortable. We subsequently did our best to keep the kids off that patch, but controlling 6 young children is no mean feat, and we kept getting the evil eye from him every time he ventured nearby. The icing on the cake however, was when we had just left and were walking to our cars. A couple of the kids were trailing behind us adults, and they stopped to look at a large fig tree. I turned around to see one of the kids pick a leaf from the fig tree, and the male owner then “shooed” the kids away with words to the effect of “come on, get going”. Absolutely shocking behaviour - it was one leaf off a large, very well established tree. This man is clearly in the wrong business if he is so offended by kids being kids. Other than that, a beautiful spot, but the experience left us with a very sour taste in our mouths. We...
