A hidden urban gem. It's an actual gorge that you walk in and around in suburban Springwood, in Logan. Some of the trail heads are at Plateau Drive, parking near the girl guides hut, Jardine drive with a dedicated parking area and Light Street, foot access only no parking. People come here because there is a set of stairs that people go up and down for fitness. Stairs at the Jardine Street trail head. There is also a walking trail that goes down into the gorge and around its sides with rather cool looking large boulders. The official trail is a mix of concrete, pebble concrete and bitument sections with some steepish sections and stairs to climb. Toilets and drinking fountain at Jardine Street car park an I think there was a drinking fountain at the Light Street trail head. As always, look out for snakes in Aussie urban bush. Apparently, it's also wheelchair accessible as there was a trail marked as wheelchair trail at the Jardine Street trail head. You might want to send someone over first to confirm it's wide enough and to scope out the inclines, which could be a bit...
Read moreThis is a fantastic Park. Challenging steps for heart rate junkies, on leash dog walking and a sprawling track network lend variety to your stroll. Keep an eye out for water dragons near the creek. In the late afternoon you will hear echidna scratching through the leafy understorey as they search for ants. The grunt of koalas echoes through the gumtrees. In the evening feathertail gliders yip as they climb and jump through the tree canopy. Brush-tail possums and ringtail possums vie for the sweetest nectar in the eucalyptus. The tell-tale silhouette of the tawny frogmouth betrays them despite their stalwart attempt to stand sentinel in the twilight. The whooping call of the pheasant coucals reverberates through the forest. Don't forget the many pretty face wallabies who call this forest home also. This forest is truly alive with denizens of many shapes and sizes. What a treasure to have this is in...
Read moreVisited on a quiet, rainy weekday morning. Very peaceful walking amongst the trees hearing the birds and water flowing. The steep stairs were a good heart pumper to start with! There is a lookout, information signs, seating & a few bridges along the walk. The paving appears in good condition. I checked out the wheelchair friendly circuit which is short but lovely. 2 x disabled car spaces provide easy access to the start. Dog friendly on leash. An informative hut with map at the start plus single stall male & female toilets available. Toilet appeared clean but soap dispenser empty (I carry my own). Carpark wasn’t very busy but I’d imagine it would be...
