This museum was the most disappointing experience of my trip to Australia. At the time of organising our tour, we checked out the museum website to see about the ticket options. Depending on how you navigate the site, you may or may not see a warning that the General Admission tickets do not include the main aspect of the museum - specifically any of the 5 real aircraft.

The tours that include the main exhibits start at $99, so you need to be pretty keen on what's included in the guided tours to pay what is quite a high price. (As a comparison, last year I visited IWM Duxford in the UK, where there are 200+ aircraft on display & a ticket costing $60 includes going inside Concorde).

We opted for a General Admission ticket and when purchasing this at the ticket office, we were not warned that this option didn't include access to the main exhibits - something that we only learned after entering the museum.

We were not alone in this & met several other visitors who were pretty ticked off at not being able to see the real aircraft.

Personally, as something of an aircraft junkie, I would recommend giving this place a miss & instead, visit the truck museum in Winton - it's less flashy, but has loads of amazing trucks, really friendly staff & offers much...

Absolutely worth a visit to the Qantas Founders Museum. The Museum offers a wide variety of museum Pieces which is great for everyone. There is a flight simulator for Kids and Adults Alike, with interactive tables and electronic audio features to guide you through the museum. Each piece has its own individual explanation.

The entire museum is incredibly detailed. Even the Carpet has a story behind it!

The Air Park tour and Luminescent Longreach are definitely the most best and most cost effective tours. Air Park tour allows you to enter into 4 aircraft however Our Tour Group did not enter the DC3. The Boeing 747 is the signature piece, with the Air Park tour allowing access into Both Decks and the Cockpit.

Luminescent Longreach is a 28 minute show that really is great. A light show is projected onto the side of the Boeing 747, with other small sections projected onto the 707, Super Constellation and DC3. Just a warning though, the Luminescent show does have flashing lights and fake smoke which may cause issues for some.

There is also the McGinnes Restaurant which serves a variety of food with large portions. However, on the restaurant the Cleaning of tables could be...

The museum, very underwhelming. I am a loyal Qantas customer and worries me the quality of this attraction. Maybe the management need to cross the road to Stockmans Hall of Fame to see what they have to offer. On the subject of food. At 12.55pm we ordered 2 sandwiches, only to be told by a very rude lady in the kitchen that the kitchen closed at 1pm. The order was in by then but the lady in the kitchen flatly refused to fill the order. The ladies taking our orders were so embarrassed by her attitude they could not apologise enough. Another lady then tried to order and she was told over the phone that the kitchen was open till 1.30pm for hot food and 2pm for a sandwich. We both then asked for the centre manager and while we waited we asked if we could talk to the kitchen lady. She finally agreed. First thing she said was the sandwich ordered after 1pm. Well that was so wrong and I said so. So she then she decided to say yes to both of us. The Manager then turned up and went in and spoke to her. Lunch time is 12noon to 2pm. The rest of the staff at this centre were just lovely...

A great not-for-profit locally run museum. Well worth paying for the 90min guided tour which takes you into the large gated covered area to get close up to and walk inside the 747-200, plus closer up to other historic planes, and allows you inside the swanky private jet. Plus very informative tour guide. The general museum visit was included in our tour price and we enjoyed sitting in the small biplane plane simulator, looking at the wide range of labelled exhibits, heritage items, and history of the founders, and also visiting the original little hangar. I'm not a plane buff but I found all the history of air travel really interesting. Cafe was also good - lovely triple-decker toasted BLT and nice latte with a good crema on top. Note: best to get here early enough so you have time for a tour, plus self-guide thru the museum (& cafe and souvenir shop if you also want). We got here at 10:30am, looked around a bit, did the 11am tour, lunch at 12:30, then more general looking, and left by 2pm. They close at 3pm this part of the year.

We did the Premium Economy tour for our family of 6. It was quite expensive, however the lady at the desk gave us a nice discount when we asked. The museum itself is well set out with unique displays and interactive flying simulators for young and old. We enjoyed the tour through the old hanger and found the stories to be quite entertaining and informative. Our tour guide did a great job sharing his knowledge with such a big group and fighting against the wind! We enjoyed walking through the various aircrafts and seeing the progression over time. Again our guide was very informative and knowledgeable with each plane. Our final highlight was walking through the 747, bringing back nostalgic memories for us adults. The kids were in awe of the size of it. We were a little surprised at how much it had aged on the inside.
