This park is good for a nice walk especially after a meal at the Heidi Museum cafe. There is a fenced dog off the leash area but it isn't huge and is often busy. The kids play area is ok and there are a few manual BBQ sites. The toilets though are atrocious. If your walking in summer just be careful of snakes as I've seen plenty down here 🐍 UPDATE: Forgot to mention that there is a covered picnic area and also there is a cherry tree garden. I just wish the contracts could cut the grass a bit more often as it does get a bit long.

I know there were big floods etc in October 2022 that caused a lot of damage but today is 3rd February 2023 and it's shocking down there. It's an embarrassment really and such a shame as I used to have this as 4 stars and unfortunately now there isn't an option to give none...
Read moreBeautiful park located in a large bend of the Yarra River and adjacent to the Heide Gallery with its own extensive gardens and open spaces. There are gates within Banksia Park to access Heide as well as a seperate carpark right at the Gallery accessed from within Banksia Park. The park has children's playgrounds, Public Toilets, lots of benches with seating, shelters and wood fired BBQs sprinkled throughout the park. The Northern part of the park has a very large fenced of area for leash off dogs with obstacles, water and lots of free space for dogs to gambol. Very popular on weekends especially. There is a really nice shaded bitumen walkway that goes around the perimeter of the park with lots of views of the Yarra and mostly well shaded over its length. The whole park with the dozen or so seperate car parking areas is extremely busy on pleasant weekend days and finding a vacant spot can...
