Like many long trails, some sections are prettier than others, but I think over the years I've walked every inch of this, and I think it's wonderful. Bikes aren't unusual (or, to put it in a more balanced way: walkers will encounter bikes, riders will encounter walkers) in many sections it's quite wide, which helps. It weaves in and out of parks and reserves, some of which do have amenities. (On long walks, this is a must, and on other trails it's possible to walk for hours and not find a single toilet.)

This is a very good bicycle path extending from the beach at Carrum to the foot of the Dandenongs at the Liverpool Road retarding basin. Given its length of around 30 miles it has very few road crossings. These are mostly concetrated in Dandenong. There is some overlap with the new Eastlink trail, parts of which can also be used to shorten the journey or for more hills.

A pretty decent trail all around just to do some walking and exploring. You can get some really nice views of the creek and the path is fairly well maintained. The only gripe I have is that some cyclists think it's a race and a lot of them will overtake you.
