Quaint picnic ground with more than what may initially meet the eye.

In the open is approximately a six to eight car car park, with a picnic table with seats to the left and another picnic table at the far end of the grassy open area, on the right of the car park.

Both picnic areas have ample shade.

The left side of the car park has a walking track, where many people that know of the area, come with bottles and containers, to fill up with the water flowing along the creek bed, to the right side of the walking track.

There are no swings, slides, seesaws or the likes for the young ones to play with. However, on the right side of the car park is a large patch of flat grass (approximately 30-50 m2), where they can play various ball games, or throw frisbees over.

There are not as many fauna to be observed here, as Grant’s Picnic Ground, around a few kilometres up the road can boast. Despite this, it is a beautiful, idyllic, calm sanctuaryesque place to go and have a picnic with the family, or alone. Then you can go for a walk along the walking trail that begins on the left side of...

Kays Picnic Ground is one of several areas to stop along the Sassafras Creek between Kallista and Monbulk. Kays has parking for about 10 vehicles at best and can get a little crowded on sunny weekends. Kays has the advantage of a reasonable sized grassy area adjacent to the carpark for your picnic or throwing the Frisbee. Two fixed picnic tables with a third on the other side of the parking area. The path upstream towards Kallista is quite overgrown and...

Great spot for a dip in the creek on q hot summer day next! One of my favourite places in the Hills. I grew up across the road from here and revisted this week and it's still just as lovely! The fresh water spring is still flowing and has been well taken care of (and if you visit make sure to bring an empty bottle! I hope you treat it with the same respect as others) please respect the nature and leave only footprints and memories!

Found the walking track by accident. Had an hour to kill and decided to try this track. Narrow track through the woods that follows the creek in a valley. Lots of birds around and the sound of the creek. Small natural spring at this picnic ground is beautiful to drink from. Only downside are the sounds of traffic from the nearby road and parts of the track haven’t been well maintained.
