Beautiful nature and very peaceful. Lots of wildlife to be spotted if you are there early enough in the morning. Masons Falls picnic area seemed very busy when I walked through it on my hike, but still a very peaceful area elsewhere. I did see some litter on the ground at the Mt Sugarloaf peak car park unfortunately, but that's by no means at fault of the park--just some disrespectful humans unfortunately. The trails I traversed were very well marked; I didn't feel lost once. The track on the Mt Sugarloaf ridge track was a little overgrown, but nothing crazy by any means--you'll just have some gentle ferns pushing against your arms. It's great to see the area doing well after the extremely destructive fires...
Read moreGoogle map not clear on updates as National Park Google map directions entry is closed.Best to visit and go the Masons Falls directions better...Lucky for us we saw some Park Ranges helped us to redirect...Sadly a trip was meant to take 1hour n 30mins took us over 2hours...we ended up returning to Melb as petrol tank was low...A trip wasted scenery was nice on the way n company entertaining...No longer on my list to see again...Entrance to it was not clear with Google it was closed no alternative sign given to go for directions..became a concerning trip if we were going to make it home...as it took too...
Read moreOne of the closer national parks to central Melbourne. It's a popular spot for families and on the weekends. Masons Falls picnic area has large group picnic facilities and walks that you can do from the car park. Masons Falls is just a short walk from the picnic area to the viewing platform. I saw the most amount of echidnas there that I've ever seen in the wild one spring, go there around 3.30-4pm as they'll all start to emerge looking for bugs. Saw lots on the short walk next to the creek just below the carpark. Plenty of evidence of wombats but went at the wrong time...
