Lysterfield Park is a gem for anyone who loves the outdoors, and from my experience, it’s a place that offers something for everyone. As a hiker, I’ve enjoyed the variety of trails that wind through bushland, offering stunning views of the lake and surrounding hills. Whether you're looking for a casual stroll or a more challenging trek, the trails cater to all levels, and the peacefulness of the park makes each hike feel like an escape from the city. For cyclists, Lysterfield is a well-known hotspot. The park is famous for its mountain bike trails, including some that were used in the 2006 Commonwealth Games. The routes range from beginner-friendly paths to more advanced tracks with jumps and technical sections, making it a thrilling destination for all cycling enthusiasts. I’ve always noticed how well-maintained the tracks are, with clear signs, which makes navigating easy even for first-timers. Families will love Lysterfield Park too. It’s perfect for a day out with kids, with picnic areas, BBQ facilities, and plenty of open space to run around. The lake has designated swimming areas, and children often enjoy paddling in the shallow waters. There are also gentle walking tracks that are stroller-friendly, so even young children can explore the park’s beauty. Overall, Lysterfield Park is a versatile destination that brings together nature lovers, adventurers, and families looking for a peaceful day out. Whether it’s hiking, cycling, or enjoying a lakeside picnic, there’s something here for everyone.

Lysterfield Park is an amazing destination for anyone who loves outdoor activities and nature. The park offers something for everyone, whether you’re into hiking, cycling, picnicking, or just enjoying the tranquility of the lake. The trails are well-maintained and cater to different fitness levels. If you’re into mountain biking, the tracks here are top-notch with plenty of challenges for enthusiasts. The walking paths are equally impressive, winding through lush greenery and offering beautiful views of the lake. Speaking of the lake, it’s the heart of the park. It’s perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding, or even just relaxing by the shore. You might even spot kangaroos and other wildlife roaming freely, which adds to the charm of the park. Facilities like picnic areas, barbecues, and clean restrooms are also well-organized, making it a great spot for families and groups. It’s an excellent place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and recharge in nature. Highly recommend visiting Lysterfield Park if you’re in Melbourne. It’s a true gem!

Lysterfield Park is next door to Churchill National Park, with seamless boundary. Lots of kangaroos roam around here. It is a pleasant giant park suitable for families. Lots of established purpose-built mountain bike trails suitable for all skill levels, and was used for the 2006 Commonwealth Games. (The other interesting mountain bike trails with substantial tracks are located at plenty Gorge and the You Young’s). This huge park accommodates lots of hiking trails too. Mostly pleasant flat trails with some grade 3 sections leading to the trig point with views to the city and the quarry. Please be careful of fast bicycles crossing some of the trails, especially on weekends. There are many access points to the park. The modern Stella’s Kitchen is located at the entrance of Lysterfield Park, very close to the lake. Lysterfield Park has bbq areas and two toilet blocks near the lake; with the other one at the mtb entrance. There is another toilet block at the Churchill Park next door.

A wonderful place for family and friends to go into the nature for a dipping or hiking/biking locates at the eastern inner Melbourne. Traffic: it’s very hard to visit with public transportation, so driving is a better option. There are a lot of parking spaces. Even during the busy time, you can still find a spot. Facilities: like other parks, it’s free access, and has public toilets and picnic areas with barbecue stations. Highlights: a good place to visit Kangaroo families. After 6 pm everyday, you may even get a “close contact”. There are many other native animals and plants. The lake allows swimming and boating. It is also a wonderful place for hiking or riding bicycles.

Does well to cater to all rider abilities, overall you can ride all trails as there is always options to take a b line or challenge yourself, park will suit most people of all levels, if your looking for serious downhill action Lysterfield may not suit your needs but as for me there is more then enough fun, only thing I dont like is there is way to much pedalling flat and uphill trails, but again it all comes down to what you like and your style XC or Enduro DH ect. Overall I don't think you will be disappointed it's good all round place to learn skills and practice or train for XC. Highly recommended it.

Plenty of car parking spots are available, a beautiful lake, plenty of kangaroos ,birds, and even huge rabbits ! Take the Granite trail track to Lysterfield Hills look out. Beautiful views of the Dandenongs and the city skyline once you get there, plenty of kangaroos along the trail also. You can also walk around the lake. Plenty of well signed trails for walking and mountain bike riding. You can swim, paddle board, kayak on the lake. There are bbqs set up but be quick to grab a spot as they go quickly. Plenty of cool spots to throw a blanket down and just take in all the views and sounds.
